I wouldn't worry about it too much. PC gaming has been predominantly digital downloads for a while now and it's not turned into a complete hellscape. Even in cases where games are no longer on sale you can still download them if you've already bought them, and that includes ones I picked up twenty yeas ago.

The real concerns should be things like always-online DRM and live-service gaming, which can render games unplayable, even if they're distributed on physical media.
