Topic: PS3 Slim Blu-Ray Load Time

I am just wondering how long it takes a Blu-Ray to load on a PS3 Slim. My brother has a budget Sony Blu Ray player that takes 5 minutes to load the Terminator 2 Skynet Edition, does anyone think this would load faster in a PS3?

I have that exact same disc and Ive never seen more than a few seconds of load time, maybe like 5-10 seconds. You prob need to connect the BD Player to the internet and install the new updates to decrease the load times. The main reason I use a PS3 for BD is the constant BD Updates.

@slapshot82 He has the BD Player hooked up to the internet, and got all the updates, and it still takes that long. I am glad to know that the PS3 loads faster. You have convinced me that the PS3 is the way to go. Thanks!

My PS3 did the same thing with the copy I rented. Why? It's either downloading or installing from the disc (it's more likely the former) some files for something completely trivial where it shows you where you live and the weather forecast in its ominous red glow. I mean, really? WTF?!? ... Naturally, I decided to kill the internet connection during bluray playback after that, which I accidentally must have turned on again at some point.

So, in the end it has nothing to do with the blu-ray player and all to do with the crap Lionsgate decided to dump on the consumer before movie playback. Stupid, I know.

@Pegasus, so do you have to change the internet settings on the PS3, or just unplug the router to make it load faster?

Basically I set it to having to confirm to let a blu-ray talk to the web. I still find it extremely silly that Sony decided to not give us a complete off switch. I'm pretty sure you should be able to shut it off on an standalone internet-capable blu-ray player... with emphasis on "should."
