Hello! I recently got an iPhone XR (my very first iPhone) and was always intrigued by Apple Arcade. I loved the idea of mobile games that weren’t designed to siphon your money with loot boxes and such. I managed to get access to Arcade and would like to know what other people are playing and their thoughts about the games or the service in general. Suggestions are appreciated as well!
I’ll start. Downloaded Various Daylife and just put in about an hour so far. I’m assuming it’s by the same devs that made Octopath Traveler.
From what I’ve played so far, it’s a charming turn-based JRPG with life sim gameplay where you choose and occupation and work throughout the day to earn money and gain abilities. This money can be used to upgrade equipment and level up party members. There is a story to progress and expeditions pop up for those mini dungeons with boss fights.
Overall, I’m digging it. The character progression and combat system has a surprising amount of depth. The life sim part is also interesting and is similar to FE Three Houses and Persona on how it works. I’m looking forward to playing more (on my break times when I’m not at home of course!).
For anyone who likes puzzle games, I’m really enjoying Chuchu Rocket Universe. It’s supposedly a sequel to Chuchu Rocket in the Dreamcast. I remember playing the original and having a blast. It was also one of my first online game experiences. It had a very small community to play with because at that time, playing console games online was still relatively new. Regardless, it was a great and fun experience.
The game is simple to learn, but the puzzles can get challenging. You’re given the task of guiding the Chuchus (mouses) to their rocket ship. They move in one direction and can be killed by cat enemies that walk into their path or fall into pits. It’s your job to direct these Chuchus by placing arrows on the floor to avoid these hazards and into their ship.
It’s the basic Chuchu formula from the original game, but now on a 3D plane. Stages can be rotated to maybe get a better angle on things and there are some stages that are like little planets. There’s also a story and even voice acting (it’s bad), though honestly, it’s not that interesting. Something about a cat that wants to eat the Chuchus or whatever. But that doesn’t matter, it’s about the gameplay and I think that’s where Chuchu Rocket Universe shines.
Totally recommended and worth your time if puzzles are your sort of thing.
New information about upcoming Apple Arcade game exclusive, Fantasian. A JRPG by Mistwalker, a studio led by Final Fantasy creator, Hironobu Sakaguchi. From the looks of the trailer, it also seems the music composer, Nobuo Uematsu, is also involved with the project.
It's nice to see the creator of the Final Fantasy series, Hironobu Sakaguchi, still working.
Once I get an XSX I need to go play Lost Odyssey again.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,252 games (as of April 30th, 2024)

@Magician I know right! I’m fan of his creative talents and I’m especially looking forward to playing Fantasian sometime this year. Nobuo Uematsu is also composing for this game (trailer music is banging). I hoping this is a timed exclusive for Apple Arcade. I would love to add a physical Switch copy to my collection.
I also would like to play his past games at some point. Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, and Last Story.
This new Apple Arcade game called Cozy Grove was recently released and it looks likely something I would personally enjoy. It’s a life-sim game with a very cute art style. I’ll give it a download and give it try when I have the chance. So many good games to play on the Switch that I haven’t had much time to play on my phone.
Fantasian just released! Will give it a try later tonight.
Also, played a little bit of a Cozy Grove and I liked it to the point where I want to experience it on the Switch when it comes out on it. It’s like a life sim game where you go do tasks for NPCs like collecting materials so you can expand the area to explore. The humor/writing is witty and the art style is very cute.
It’s worth it for $5 a month....they added a bunch of basic games at the beginning of the month. You can try out some games that retail for $15-$20 on Switch. I still much prefer console/handheld gaming than on my phone or tablet, even with the option to use a Bluetooth controller.
