Topic: Any similar games like Desktop Dungeons out there?

I would like a similar game on on of my handhelds now (psp or ds) Can anyone recommend me some? Orcs and elves is the closest game i got that kinda plays like it.

Well the dungeon crawler/roguelike genre is old, varied and well populated. There's a lot of difference across games in the genre - some are turn-based, others more action-oriented and some which are heavily role-playing focused.

For the DS there's Etrian Odyssey 1-3, The Dark Spire, Izuna 1 and 2, Shiren the Wanderer, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and Orcs and Elves. I know Nethack has been ported to the DS, but as homebrew. There are possibly more. As for the PSP, I have no idea but there should be some.

If you have a Wii, there's Baroque, Chocobo's Dungeon and Shiren the Wanderer. On the Gamecube there's Gauntlet: Dark Legacy which is apparently very good for multiplayer.

On DS, Shiren the Wanderer and the Izuna games are probably the closest, with Shiren being the best of the three.

I'm not sure about PSP, but you could always download Nethack for it: http://www.feelthepawa.com/psp/nethack/.

Edit: Haha, you might want to look into the game play of each a good bit, too. Izuna is a good bit tougher than Shiren. I don't know if Desktop Dungeons is a good example of how hard roguelikes tend to be.

Well, the thing is, I don't really like puzzle games, and from what I've heard, that's basically what they've turned this into. All the recommendations we've listed so far are pretty much puzzle-less. Plus, I don't use Windows or Mac most of the time.

Buyed etrian odyssey. Was looking for Shiren but oh well i will buy that online one of these days.
