There's a lot I still don't know that I'm testing, but I think the best way is to use eggs over actual pokes; your pokes you caught that you're going to assimilate have a very small window of opportunity, while pokes gotten in trades seem to clone easier (but eggs are the best in my opinion). Make sure both systems are offline, gather up what you want cloned(legendary) and what you're ready to have cloned on (garbage), start a trade, trade, wait till the animations finish and you can see the "please wait, etc.,", wait about 3-4 ish seconds, power off what you originally wanted cloned first, then the other system. restart, and hopefully, everything will be what you wanted it to be.

@jm29 wow, yeah, gen.3 vs. gen. 6 is not fun and you can actually really screw yourself if you get confused for a second (lost a shiny Pikachu with a life orb attached, turned him into a Tentacool)

Well, to be honest, @ Leftwingzero has the Ability Capsule, I guess I just need stuff like razor claw/tooth, assault vest, basically the 48 BP items.
