I mean like do you do anything special before shiny hunting? Like I've read about people tipping and whatnot, but the places they tipped were all varied and some claim it didn't work for them. I tried a bit too with that but I don't think I gave it enough effort to really say if it didn't work for me.

I finally have a competitive team though still trying for more variety
@pyrotechnic I was actually using a male Fennekin being it had four max IV's (HP, Defense, Special Attack, and Speed), and the best female that popped out only ever had three, so I never swapped it out for the female. I also used a Japanese Ditto with max Special Attack and Speed to at least increase my chance of getting max Special Attack with every egg. I would just always deny the first egg from the day care man, then accept the next five. If after they hatched none of them were shiny, I would soft reset, and repeat the same process. If I had to estimate, I must have hatched the shiny in about 100 eggs.
What is a soft reset? Because I have been using the masuda method on a gengar and ditto trying to get a shiny ghastly but it's not going so swell...

@Ludacario Soft Reset is just L+R+Start. @Pyrotechnic I tipped about everyone possible during my regular game play, nothing really since then.

The benefit of soft resetting on Masuda Method is that you don't clog your boxes with unshiny babies.
