@BlueGBAMicro looks outside
Yeah, I think I'll be ok.

Guess I'll ask since someone brought it up to me before, no idea if they were joking or not. Is there such a thing as a fanless Switch? Noticed recently that my Switch gets a little hot....not TOO hot...but...it bugs me.

Keep it PG-13-ish.
35C is hot? I mean it's not cool but during summer here a day with a max of 35C is a cool change. On the other side of things the maximum here today was 20C.... and everyone is walking around in thick jumpers
Edit: oh. Misread. Switch recommended operating temp is 35C and it's reaching the low 40s. Yeah, fair. I mean when it's 45C out your Switch melting when you play it outside shouldn't be an issue because why on earth are you outside when it's 45C unless you need to be?
I think my switch'll be fine. I've dropped it multiple times (on accident and one time on purpose just because) and it is still working smoothly. Plus, it was over 108 degrees yesterday and my switch did not melt so this is disinformation
Just saw something similar about this for Steam Deck. For real, don't use your Switch when it's too hot, use it in a room that's on the cool side. Coming from experience with PC gaming, you never want your PC components to overheat. There's a good reason why I lock my framerate to 60, and turn on my air conditioning when gaming on PC, or even my consoles in the summer. To help keep temperatures down, I don't want it to overheat and damage them.
Yes, the Switch has a fan in it, but if you're using it in a hot environment, the fan is just going to suck in more hot air. Heat is never good for any electronic device, that's just it. The components in consoles and PCs already run hot, even with fans and heat sinks. Why risk making it hotter in hotter weather?
@Sunsy It just seems like a poor design IMO. Why design a console that couldn't be used in hotter countries like Singapore, where there's no winter? Does that mean I could NEVER bring my Switch outside, ever? Then what did I pay for? It's ridiculous.
Heat is any console worst nightmare and the hotter the ambient temperature you can conclude the console will heat up accordingly and if it's a power house expect Global Warming. It's elementary science as things heat up all surrounding heats up accordingly as well. Also stay out of the sun if you want to reduce Global Warming consoles.
@Maxenmus In general, too much heat can just damage components. I've seen it plenty of times with computer parts and other consoles. There's a good reason why PC gamers focus on keeping their gaming rigs cool.
Good example, my CPU is currently at 46C (or 114F), if I used it in a very hot room, it will raise that temperature. When gaming, my PC's fans kick in even stronger to help keep it cooler.
You can definitely use a game system in warmer weather, these things are designed to run hot, hence the fans and heat sinks (even consoles have these, the Wii has one for example). Because they do run hot, just be mindful when the weather gets really hot.
