My sons switch has coloured lines going across the screen and what looks like a big crack but it's not actually cracked (if that makes sense) its like a picture of a crack? Can anyone advise if this is fixable. Typically the 12 month warranty ended last month.

It sounds like.he dropped it. If that's the case, you might want to contact Nintendo and set up a repair.

Do you have any idea how much that will cost?

The Warranty only cover manufacturer defects not when user caused damages. You need to contact Nintendo Support and ask them about repairs. But if you had put a Temper Glass Plate cover on it I doubt your screen would've cracked as the protector would absorbed the impact first. Assuming it wasn't him tossing it down screen first with force then anything can break at that point.

Yep he more than likely has dropped it. I will purchase a screen protector for future and I'll arrange a repair with Nintendo. Does anyone have a rough idea of cost?

That depends on your location and where they say it's to be sent.

@Palmer123 Like @SwitchForce said it depends on the cost. Depending on where you live, it might be cheaper to buy a new Switch (or a used one) and just transfer the data over. If your son is young and you think this might happen again, I encourage your to look at more than just a screen protector. There are fairly durable cases around you could get.

@Heavyarms55 If that was the case we have DIY Switch builders selling Switches but that isn't going to happen AFAIK-but for used I be first test it works and isn't HomeBrew as that would lock out the Switch. As for the screen I bought a 3pak from Amazon Temper glass and installed and look like factory protection.

@SwitchForce What are you talking about with HomeBrew and stuff? That isn't what I was talking about at all. I was talking about cases you can put your Switch in to protect it from the impact of being dropped. A screen protector is great for protecting from scratches but isn't gonna do much if you drop the whole Switch on a cement floor or something.

@Heavyarms55 I am talking about if the screen could be bought outside of Nintendo they builders would be making their own Switches.

@SwitchForce As you may be able to see, this post says nothing about building a custom Switch or buying a replacement screen from an online seller.

@SwitchForce They are, they are called tablets... But there is more to a Switch than just that. Still, that wasn't what I was getting at. I meant he could buy a new or used Switch and do a system transfer. It might be cheaper or faster than sending it in for repairs.
