Ok, I am getting ready to make a duplicate copy to my second Switch. So the question is do I have to transfer all the Pokémon data to the other Switch for their Pokémon data saves? I read where when making Primary and Secondary Switch that Pokémon data will have to transfer while others can be copied and with NSO cloud will sync the update data for other games. So is this correct, if I move Pokémon to second Switch I have to move the saved data but the Account can still exists on the Primary but now the Secondary has the Pokémon data???

Your account can exist on multiple switches.

Your Pokémon save data can’t be duplicated, but it can be transferred to other Switches with your profile, there’s not much science to it: just use the transfer save data option from the menu that appears when you press start while highlighting the game on the Switch Home Screen, and follow instructions.

So Basically I would have to transfer their Pokémon saved data when doing the transfer and other games would just duplicate the data over to the other Switch. So only ACNH and Pokémon are the only games that force one to move all the data over is that my guess at this point? I do have lots other games but one is BOTW as well so hopefully their data will transfer over without issue.

@SwitchForce I’m not sure if it’s only those two franchises, but yeah, most other games allow the same save data to exist in multiple switches at the same time.

Thankfully, the Pokémon games at least allow you to use the default save data transfer option. Animal Crossing makes you download another app just for transfers.

It literally blows my mind that Nintendo still won't add support for Cloud Storage for Pokèmon games. Some people have hundreds of hours of progress accumulated over years and I don't need to say how devastating it would be if anything happened to that save.

They just make it harder then it should for legit users to transfer and sync data at least that way gamers can enjoy their games if they have more then two Switches-should another family use one and their saved games is stuck just on one device and have no access to it. This just punishes the honest user as the account already has their NSO how hard are they making it to verify the saved data matches on both Switches.
