Topic: Re-download option not appearing

Hi. I had Mario Kart on a Switch (bought as a bundle with the Switch). A few years later I got a second Switch and didn’t realise you can’t access the same game on both consoles. Now Mario Kart isn’t appearing on either Switch, or as an option to re-download. Same account used, primary console re instated etc. contacted Nintendo with no joy at all. Any help welcome

@Hkl

Was it a physical or digital?

I got a second switch and I can play it on both, though I have the Online Subscription so I can transfer my data.

@SmashBall35 thanks, it was a digital code that came in the box when we bought the Switch in 2018. Have the box but can’t find the code. We have the family subscription but not sure that helps us

Ok, if you find the code I’d recommend trying that again.

I found this: **If your game on the Eshop says it’s been purchased**To redownload the game, launch the Nintendo eShop using the Nintendo Account that originally purchased the game, select your user icon in the top-right corner to access the shop settings, and highlight Redownload. Select the game in the list of previously purchased titles, then select the orange icon to redownload.

Does that help at all?

The digital code will show up for the account that downloaded the eShop code. Only reason it doesn't show up is the wrong account is trying to access the re-download on the wrong NSO account. That's the only reason I can think that it will not show up. You can access the game on either console but you can't play at the same time. That will require another different account or eShop purchased on different account or 2nd physical cart to play Mario Kart.

Thanks. We only have one account and have never had a second, so not understanding why it’s not showing up. I can see my saved data from the game, and the game appears as an option to start up, but just get the message saying a different account was used, only it wasn’t. All other games are fine. Very odd.

@Hkl Either something is wrong with your account, or, wait, have you changed regions? If you changed your nintendo account region, maybe you have to change it back to the region you claimed the bundled game? (eshop region is dictated by the region set on your nintendo account on nintendo's website. Forgive me if you know that. There's just a lot of people who don't know that detail).

If it's not region related, then it sounds like something is wrong with your account, or your switch, and you need someone at nintendo to help sort it out. You need a nintendo support manager if your last attempt with nintendo support failed to address your issue. Last I knew, nintendo support uk didn't reveal their phone number until you got to the email form, and the number was hiding at the bottom of the email form page. It was very sneaky. However, since 2021-ish, that page became region locked, and we, in the US, can no longer see what your contact options are to confirm that. (In the US nintendo support has a chat messenger & phone line)

Oooo, would love it if the region answered it, but alas I’ve not changed. Thank you though. Have heard from Nintendo, but all generic replies and nothing helpful yet. Will look for a number at the bottom and hope for a manager. Thank you

@Hkl When you use the Nintendo Support UK contact page, does it funnel you to Nintendo EU for the support?

I actually don't know for a fact if nintendo of america's support is region locked. If needed, you may as well check out their contact page, in case the chat messenger can work for you. Last time I used the messenger, the beginning seemed a bit bot-like, but I think you'll get a real person after a certain point?

EDIT: (There's also a phone number for people outside of US & Canada, but I'm skeptical of it since I have no experience with calling across the atlantic like you would be.)
