This is one game where the console versions are actually superior to the PC version. The parry and riposte mechanics don't seem to work correctly on PC, because they share the hotkey with the ranged weapons.

However, on the console, you can abuse blocking and counter attacking to have a completely different playstyle, and a lot of the opinions that the combat is lackluster become 100% moot. I really suggest it if you ever played Legacy of Kain, or your just like games with really dark themes. The hero definitely has one of the worst worlds I've seen any character be charged with saving, and the lore on each item (and enemy) is actually quite extensive, if you happen to be a junkie for that too There are GALLONS of gore though, so be ready.

Fun Fact: This team also was part of the team that worked on Yonder, which are two wildly different games! Diverse skillset flexxxx.

It's a pretty sweet little top-down soulsy game, with a dash of H.P. Lovecraft thematically.

If a Zelda were more souls than adventure or something akin to that.

Good game.
