This only happens after my Switch has been on for about 15 minutes.
This will also happen regardless of whether it was docked or played in handheld mode after enough time has passed.
The fan just makes this sound. It's quite audible in a quiet room. It's definitely not overheating and there isn't even alot of air being pushed out of the vent.
Is this normal? I really hope so because I am not able to return it at this point in time.
I have had my Switch since launch and never once even heard the fan. It is not supposed to rattle. Why can't you take it back? If you bring it with you and demonstrate the defect they should swap it with another one.
If its definitely not overheating (i notice mine uses the fan a lot more when docked) then I wouldnt worry about it - if you cannot return or exchange it then perhaps accept this idiosyncracy of your particular device and fingers crossed it will either lessen over time or you will be so accustomed to it that you forget its doing it.
I'd be more concerned if it isnt managing to push out a draft of some form.
On the plus side, congrats on your new console😃, aside from odd noises hopefully you're enjoying it...
@Daftbomb I appreciate the reply. Thsst makes me feel better about it. It does sound like a normal Switch when it's not making that noise and it doesn't appear to be affecting games or anything.
@FireIce38 I suppose that is possible. I will listen again after work, but I am pretty sure I'd have noticed it, playing with the volume off on a quiet train.
