Am really struggling with this right now...my wife has an online account and when loading up switch sports and selecting play globally with 2 players and selecting my wife and then me it always asks me to sign in to play in online.

If my wife select's one player globally it then goes online no problems.

I was under the impression that you only needed one online account for 2 people to play online on sports..

I'm sure we have both played on-line bowling before against other people but I can't not get it work at all

@chris_35 If it's like Mario Kart 8, you can only boot up the game with one switch user. Player two just plays a guest. In mario kart 8, you select Online Play, 2p, after that, the game lets you select from all the mii's on that switch console. But techincally, both of you are still playing under the switch user that booted up the game. In Mario Kart & Rocket League, all xp/points earned only get awarded to the switch user that booted upt he game.

Hi that makes sense and it works fine with Mario kart as we play that all the time

On sport's if i click on play globally its show's you can play 2 players... next screen it asks one or two players so I select 2... then you select the 2 players so I select my wife then I select me...it then says connecting to internet then it pops up asking me to link to an Nintendo account.

If I select one player and pick my wife it says connecting to internet and it's fine and goes into the game but there is no way to then add me m

Everything I have read online suggests you definitely can play 2 player's on-line under one account and we have 100% had this working before so I'm stumped

@chris_35 I'm shocked nobody else here with the game has chimed in on this.

Have you played two player online after buying the game? The retail version of the game may be structured different than the demo.

Or, perhaps the wording you've read is ambiguous. Maybe your switch user only needs to link to a nintendo account (that's free), and perhaps you can still play two player online via your wife's account/NSO subscription. And maybe you won't need another NSO subscription? (Just guessing)

I was looking around on youtube for videos of two player online Switch Sports, but the only video I found with footage of the in-game menus(setting up) was the demo of Switch Sports, which may not be the same as the the retail version of the game. If you're desperate, you can look for youtubes of two player online and hope they show the in-game menus when they set up.

@WoomyNNYes Re: Mario Kart. I've seen this said a lot and see it all the time when online where people have 'guest miis' but you can actually have both logged in.

You just have to play single player with the other account first then it is selectable.

My wife and I play on both our accounts on either of our Switch's all the time. 👍

It is a strange, roundabout way to do it.

Thanks all for your replies, this was actually the problem, i just needed to create an nintento account (free) and then once i signed in i was good to go.

Just incase anyone else has this problem in the future
