Also, Saffron City is pretty much the most important city in Kanto, GoldenRod City is the most important city of Johto.
They fit with the real life locations of Tokyo and Kyoto respectively.

They even have their own Mt Fuji in the middle of them (Mt Silver).

Pretty much, every town and city and mountain in pre-V pokemon has a real life equivalent in Japan.

I always thought of Ekrutic as Kyoto, but seeing as it is a little to the north of Goldenrod it makes since, but looking at the ND stationary from Feb it looks like Nintendo HQ and Ekratic but seeing as goldenrod has the BIG buildings that makes since, but why is GF HQ in the US?

The games are heavily japanese. Kanto alone is a real place in Japan.
The map itself is quite japanese too:

What's that town south-west of Sinnoh? I don't remember it being in D&P.

Oh wow! I thought only Castelia City was based on New York.

I think Castelia city is based on Mahhattan.

No offense but I find keeping yourself from playing a game you would otherwise enjoy because of DLC silly. How many games have exclusive day-one DLC now a days? A lot, which means going by your logic you would be missing a ton of games. At least now you don't need to go to NYC just for one little pokemon, or how about Celebi being unobtainable outside Japan(not counting glitches).

The fact that there was DLC wasn't his issue; it was that he couldn't obtain it.

Still, choosing not to get a game for that reason seems silly to me. I understand not liking it because of the gameplay, or the horrible story, and stuff like that, but because one can't access a few minute things is kind of rediculous. It'd be like choosing not to buy a Mario game because there is one level that you can't get access to that others can. And that's if that Mario game is 3 times as big as any games prior in order to get the ratio right. You just aren't missing much.

That was the point, theres so much exclusive DLC that your bound to miss some small part of the game unless its released at a later date. He already said he can't go to Gamestop so that would make those unavailable.

Its always interesting to see what went into your favorite games.

Game Freak's main headquarters are in Tokyo.

Guess where in the pokemon world is the company that makes most of the technology used in the pokemon games (including, but not limited to, most pokeballs)?

You misspelled "MLP".

Lol.

Anyways, I guess it's because it's the only truly "endless" game (at least, in my knowledge.) You can keep replaying old versions as much as you want, and they'll always be more to do. It's such a complex series of games, with so many variables and outcomes which may seem subtle at first, but are of great help when manipulated well.

I wonder how accurate the Pokemon living in said areas are compared to what you'd find in the real place... Victini on liberty island makes a lot of sense since the statue of liberty was a sign of victory, I think I'm going to resource more on the Pokemon in the locations and what they represent

yeah and the LEGENDS in there locations are probably REAL Japanese folklore on a creature with similar structures and powers... Is there a time traviler legend coming from a couple miles south of Kyoto? Wait.... What about the IRL Lavander town I gotta check that out
Edit: just check on the top of Japan and they do have a huge mountain that takes up almost all the region (Mt. cornnet)
