Remember when pikmin 4 was announced? Every pikmin fan was hype over the moon and back for it to come out. And then about a month before the game came out, they announced ports of pikmin 1 and 2 for switch, along with a physical version. Nintendo even made a website for the entire pikmin franchise to promote it!

Now it's 2024, Nintendo's next system is on its way, and what are we getting? A luigi's mansion 2 remake/port and a sequel/ follow up to super peach on ds called princess peach showtime. With the luigi's mansion 2 port, it makes it you wonder why they aren't remakeing the gamecube original first?

That's because they're going to do the same thing with the lugis mansion series!

And who knows they may be on their way to bringing back other series too! (Punch out, rhythm heaven, star fox, e.c.t)

The tanookduke strikes again!

@Tanookduke I don't get the feeling Luigi's Mansion 1 is coming to switch after they recently ported it to 3DS. Year after year, Nintendo has been demonstrating that the Virtual-Console-model is dead (to my disappointment), and porting Gamecube/Wii games doesn't seem like something they like doing - for whatever reason that is. I still can't believe we haven't gotten ports of Mario Galaxy 2 or Zelda Wind Waker (my money has been ready & collecting dust).

Or they'll prove me wrong as time goes by, because Nintendo.😆 But that's the impression I've gotten from Nintendo since Switch launch. The fact that we haven't gotten a new Mario Kart for the Switch, or sequel to Mario Odyssey, or even a glimpse of Metroid Prime 4, makes me think they're development resources are focused on the next gen console.

@WoomyNNYes : Believe it or not, they "just" ported Luigi's Mansion over 5 years ago.

I'm baffled as to why it wasn't a multi-platform release in the first place (as the Switch was already 1.5 years in), along with some of the other late-life 3DS games, many of which forfeited stereoscopic 3D for no good reason.

And I'm also annoyed that Super Mario Galaxy 2 is conspicuously absent.

But I'm with you in that I strongly suspect that most of Nintendo's big-hitters are being saved for the next console. It's going to need a killer launch line-up in order to avoid the drought of the original Switch's early months.

When it comes to Nintendo's Forgotten Franchises, 'StarTropics' takes the prize.

Sure, plenty of their franchises tend to get neglected, like 'Kid Icarus' or 'EarthBound/Mother', but even Nintendo themselves seem to have forgotten that the 'StarTropics' games existed.

I'd have a legit heart attack if 'StarTropics 3' is ever announced.

(And yes I know this is primarily due to the games never being released in Japan)

I want a brand new Balloon Fight game.

That said, Nintendo has over 100 franchises and they keep making more so I doubt they will revive them all.

Reviving "some" of their franchises is what they've always done. It's just rarely going to be the ones that you want and in the way that you want.

I can't see them reviving all of them though, at least not unless you count offering them for emulation with NSO.

@WoomyNNYes : It felt "recent" to me too, but I thought I would so rudely remind us all of just how quickly life passes us by.

I've always wondered how an "Uprising" version of Ice Climber and Balloon Fight would be like, similar to "Kid Icarus: Uprising".
