Topic: Help me search for certain plants, lol.

Ok, apparently my house gets infested with tiny bugs sometimes and tend to get very annoying. Bugs, and plants, you see where this is going right? xD
So, yeah, my dog is slacking on the job as a fly catcher and eater. My dad's mom (my nana, lol) enjoys these carnivorous plants, and I do too even though I hate gardening and all that. Well, I'm not gonna give out my exact location obviously, but can say I live near central Florida (close to Gainesville)...we've tried and failed and can't find a store that sells these things. So, I'm looking for more help, as the flies and bugs here are getting annoying. Another thing, no online stores, tried them before and never works out. By the time the plants get to our house and we get them in pots and all that they're practically dead. So, anyways...help me search for a store please. Don't really care for the kind of plant itself, but my favorite (and the best I can raise apparently) is the butterwort, my Nana likes the pitcher plants. Thanks guys...

have you tried wal-mart, lowes, home depot, any kind of big-box store with a garden center? sometimes they have venus fly traps and other bug-eating plants as novelties.

Yeah, seems like the venus fly traps can't be found easily anymore, I check those stores every time I'm in town. Though the flytraps and sundews I can't raise very well to begin with anyways. (dunno why either, they just die in the next couple of days, lol)

well, it's getting on toward fall and winter... flytraps need to go dormant in winter anyway or else they'll die. why not just get some flypaper for now and try again next spring for the plants? :3

Because the plants are more awesome than paper. xD
I dunno I heard that one store was supposed to be getting different carnivorous plants at this time, but never heard from them...ugh.

So, guess no one really knows huh?...

Try bug spray and pesticides. Make sure they're plant-friendly, though. Maybe an exterminator? I'm not sure my tidbits will be of any assistance, but I'm happy to throw out any suggestions.

I'm wanting the plants though, since I enjoy raising them.

@BellGoRiiing: you refuse to entertain the idea of ordering off the internet, they're out of season at the big-box stores, and you live nowhere near a major grower of carnivorous plants. what do you want us to do, magically poof them into your home with the power of our minds or something? lol...

@TBD: Well I meant help me search or something, cause we aren't having much luck here obviously, thought you guys might have better luck with it or something. And I already gave my reason to the online crap. xD

Carnivorous plants such as these are rarely found in winter and since they are typically found in wetlands I don't know if they'll be readily available

@BGR: buckle down with flypaper and bug spray, then, because you won't be seeing any carnivorous plants 'til at least spring. how are we going to have better luck googling what you (hopefully) already have? lol :3

I tend to overlook things easily, that's why, lol. That and these stupid stores we have here said this is the time when they would start getting those plants, making me think this is when they usually show up and stuff, ugh. T_T

... then why not call those same stores and ask? maybe their suppliers prefer to ship them while dormant or something. :3
