Well, I'll give them the annoying enemy placement in Sonic 2. That always pissed me off. I have to say that it's still one of the few Sonic titles I enjoy.

The only thing that annoyed me in Sonic 2 was this stupid pit in the Mystic Cave Zone that had spikes. There was no way to get out of it, and then you died due to the spikes. Otherwise, I think Sonic 2 is perfect and is one of the best Sonic games ever made. Super Mario World is an awesome game, but it was kind of easy. I personally think that Super Mario Bros. 3 is the best 2D Mario game ever.
Well, Super Mario World is as good as people say, and is as good as you remember, so he got that right.
Sonic II is also genuinely great as well. It is not 'stupidly hard', though, not sure where that claim comes from, and to go as far as saying it 'throws a heavy taint over the production', is bizarre, and a massive overreaction. As for the moaning about being able to die after beating a Boss... well you can, I suppose, but you'd have to be pretty clumsy to do so, and it's hardly an issue.
It seems he had to find some bad points with the game, but didn't really know what to say. In the end, he was reduced to massively exaggerating the difficulty, and making a big deal about something that is a total non issue.
Not the best piece of writing in the history of the universe, I think it's fair to say.
Then you read the comments for the article, and see such gems as 'Mario deserves a 6 at most', and 'sonic 2 is todays halo 3 for me, mediocre and extremely overrated', and realise that it is a poor article, on a poor site, with a largely ignorant comments section.
GamesRadar isnt about great writing they are about making fun of EVERYTHING usually and then this article pops up and I clicked it thinkg Oh God they are going to give a Mario game a 1 or 2 but they gave it a 10, and I do agree with all the negative things he said about Sonic 2 and the score, still LOVE the game. Remember a 10 is never perfection because nothing is, its just one of the pinnacle game made and set a new bar for what games can be at the time it was released, to get a 10 review in 2009 for a SNES game you know that game is FLIPPIN AWESOME
