I've noticed in the last few weeks that some annoying video ads will autoplay (with audio) on many articles I want to read. I understand this site operates on ad revenue, and I never have a problem with the text/picture ads, but the videos are very annoying and they actually slow down the site performance on the page they are playing on.
@flapjackashley2 I had the exact same issue a while back. For several weeks there was this stupid ad for an event with some really loud, obnoxious music. I would often put down the volume before going on the site because it was that bad. Thankfully I no longer see that ad but back then, it did cause me to stop checking the site that often.
@Nintenerdguy Dude you might want to turn that off when on the site. The only way Nintendolife make money is through their Ads. :/

@antdickens - I lack screen shots but I just got blasted by two ben and Jerries ads, brookside chocolate and cadbury chocolate in a row and likely one or two I missed notice of when looking up some info on another tab and wasn't paying attention. They played while I was on the North America eShop Downloads article for June 1st. I just caught this out of the corner of my eye when scrolling down to the contact link.

@Nintenerdguy: Adblock isn't a bad thing to have, but I do turn it off for websites that I actively want to support. While NL has ads, very few have been the spammy, annoying, or weird kind that made me install Adblock+ to begin with.
That said, I have noticed an uptick in video ads here. I've even had a couple autoplay themselves, though I have no screenshots for proof yet.
Currently playing: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana (Switch)
I've just had an update from our advertising partner - they are aware of this issue and it's related to some changes last week - they're working on suppressing these and should see a change soon (hopefully in the next few days).

Thank you for looking into this for us. It is much appreciated!
