Can the DSi play imports. I know it can play imports released before the DSi launched, but what about future Japan/Europe only games? Are they playable or does the DSi block them from being used? Someone told me this was true, but I'm not too sure, so I'd like to know.

The DSi is not region locked for retail games.

The only region protection it has is in regards to the shop channel. Meaning that, like the Wii, it can only access and download games from the shop from a specific region. So if Japan gets an exclusive DSiware game, US and EU DSi's will not be able to download it.

The DSi's wiki page says that it is locked for DSi-specific software which means both the DSi shop and at retail. So when DSi-exclusive titles launch, they will be region locked.

As for regular old DS games that you might import, it can definitely play those.

DSi-only software will be region locked. Older DS software is not region locked.
