I'm pretty much on the fence about managing my Pokemon, and I'm trying to figure out what's up with the Pokemon Bank at the moment. I know that it feeds into Pokemon Home, but how much of it is free now? I don't want to pay for something I'm not going to use.

Thanks for advance.

I had similar thoughts recently and started digging around online. Pokemon Bank is free to download and will become completely free to use after the March 27th, 2023 cutoff. Basically, once it's downloaded, you have it and can use it post cutoff until they eventually announce the storage service will discontinue.

BUT....From what I can find online, there's a caveat. To transfer Pokemon from the Gen V games (Black/White and Black 2/White 2) and the Gen I/II 3DS VC titles, you will need the separate Poké Transporter app. Unfortunately, this is a download that requires an active Pokemon Bank sub in order to access its page. I've not seen any official communication on this particular paragraph if they'll open it up for free separate download before the eShop closes as well. I'm mostly going off of what I've found searching Reddit and elsewhere.

Tl;Dr - Pokemon Bank is a free download and will be completely free to use after the March cutoff. Poké Transporter will be free after that date as well but will require a Bank sub (if not already downloaded?) to download it beforehand.

Nintendo has shut down the Nintendo 3DS’s, and Wii U’s eShop on 03/27/2023. It should be free, but you won’t be able to download it on a 3DS that doesn’t have the Pokémon Bank App.
