I mean, when I fixed it yesterday, it was fine...but it seems something was knocked out of place. There's no way of getting inside it without screwing something up is there? The fixes (from tapping) seem temporary for a while...

Put your mouth right up to the trigger and blow as hard as you can, as dumb as this sounds it worked perfectly on my last 3ds.
That's actually not the case, yesterday I dropped my 3DS on the floor. Thought I was screwed, since I can't get a repair anytime soon, and no more Monster Hunter for months. But yeah something was knocked out of place under there, since tapping on it worked for like...a day.
