Topic: 3DS Mobile hotspot issues

My 3DS won't connect to online multiplayer servers using my mobile hotspot, it also won't connect using DS games (I tried using my DS, same issue), it'll happily use the badge arcade on my hotspot, and when I get home using my actual Wi-Fi router it works fine online, so what could the issue be? (And the main problem here is DS games only support WEP or unsecured and since my home router uses WPA2 I can't use DS games on it)

The problem is you don't have a lot of control over the hotspot or the 3ds connection and it could be your phone provider is blocking certain network functions (ports) that the 3ds needs.
With regards to Ds, I know you can get WPS dongles that can just plug into a PC and ds can connect to. Or setup a separate said on your wap on a separate vlan and wep encryption (only if you understood that)

Hm, interesting, I tried using the Windows 10 hotspot and only had the same issue where I couldn't find other players, however I can when 2 players are connected to my hotspot...

hmmm if you can't find players but can connect it may be you have a firewall in place, may need to open up ports.

I've looked at my firewall and I couldn't quite work out what was for the hotspot and what wasn't, any help with that? Also, I do plan on getting a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connector once I get money, although not for $199 xD

oh wow, I didn't look at the price! yeah but that's what I meant. but you'll want to look into how it works, it MAY be a way to have a separate network just for your DS.
in terms of firewall rules it'd be hard to explain but if you have experience with that the ports to forward will be in the game manuals or 'ports to forward for ds online' search online should be a start.

Yeah, I do have a Windows XP computer yet don't have the money (Yet) For a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, but what ways are there of getting past WEP encryption for DS games?

Ah, thankyou, although I am curious about other Wi-Fi USB connectors and what do they use and say IF I was going to buy one...would it work with my DS..?

Also, I tried using Connectify 2012 as apparently that has WEP and unsecured support (it does) however my hotspot doesn't come up on my phone (The SSID comes up on my 3DS but I can't connect) the latest connecitfy doesn't have unsecured or WEP (So close...so close and yet so far. 😂)
