Just og 2ds or og 3ds as new and xl systems are a bit pricey and i dont want to invest too much just yet

I have bigger hands and the 3d function i find failed due to it being line of sight

I love the way the 2ds looks as well but i hear the soumd isn
't as good but honestly gba and ds lite was good sound to me so as long as thats the bar it meets

Any reasons NOT to go 2ds?

A 2DS is great if you’re on a budget. Only issue is that some games can be tricky, but not hard, without 3D.

Better get 3DS as there are 3DS games require 3D slider to tell the depth differences like from Super Mario 3D Land.
Also, 3DS Protective shell is easier to find than 2DS / 2DS XL protective shell.
From aesthetic aspect, 3DS XL model have more appealing color choices than 2DS models.

I've got the og 2ds.

Soundwise it only has one single speaker. So you won't hear stereo unless you plug in headphones. (The DS Lite had stereo. So og 2ds isn't even as good as DS Lite.)

It doesn't fold up so no sticking it into your jeans pocket.

IIRC it doesn't scan Amiibos. IIRC the old 2ds, 3ds and 3ds xl all don't scan Amiibos? You have to get the adapter.

And the og 2ds doesn't have the additional c-stick. And I don't think there is any adapter to add it. Not like how you can add it to the og 3ds.

And as someone pointed out . . . No 3d.

Also some new games only work on the New 3DS / New 2DS XL.

For me I knew this going in and I got the og 2DS anyway. I only have 4 Amiibo. LOL. I'm ok not playing the Only for New 3DS games. And there were only a handful of 3DS games I was planning to get anyway.

The one reason I wish I had gone with a folding 2ds/3ds was so I could slip it into my jeans pocket. But I still take our 2DS out and about quite a bit. Mostly packed in my backpack or suitcase. I got a case for it. But ours travels quite a bit.

Were it not for the lack of clamshell I'd advise og 2DS, based on what you've said. Sound isn't great on any of the DS line without headphones so I wouldn't pay much attention to that aspect (unless you can't use headphones).

But if stetching is at all a possibility, I would recommend a 'New model. Assuming it doesn't fail on you, in five years time that extra investment will have felt worth it.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

Going off all this advice i've gone for 2ds, i may get a 3ds in the farfuture but sound:i don't require it superloud as my hearing is dammaged so it's easier on my ears plus my stereo hearing is shot due to years of working near big peavy speakers and using way too loud 5.1 my lad had a 2ds i recall it being more treble but thats ok for me

As for 3d i had an og 3ds and the lack of head tracking made me feel ill hense why a new 3ds beats a 3ds for that

Plus the 2ds i got has built in nsmb 2 with the dlc etc

I was gunna just get a ds lite as it has memories of getting it in my 20s but then i'd miss out on mario maker(i have a switch but i love the 100 mode) nsmb 2, mk7 etc

Gotta say ds had a lager 1st party libary but 3ds has lots of 3rd party stuff too

As for hard shell cases i prefer a silicone case which 2ds has

Oh, one more thing.
The New 3DS & New 2DS XL machines have louder sounds than the old models.
You will feel satisfied more from New machine models than the Old model.

Enjoy your 2DS!

RE: DS . . . yeah. But if you went with the DS you wouldn't be able to play the great 3DS games. And there are a bunch of really good ones. And with the 2DS, you can still go back and play the old DS games. Just no GBA games though.

RE: Silicone case . . . yeah, I got one of those for my 2DS. It's great. But I had to remove it for one particular part of Metroid Samus Returns. I was finding the squishiness of the silicone was throwing off the timing of one of the action buttons. So for that one section I had to remove the silicone case. But except for that one section the silicone case has remained on my 2DS.

!! Screen Protectors . . . Did you get some screen protectors for your 2DS? I also put screen protectors on to reduce the chance of scratching the screens. Friends of ours, their kid ended up scratching the heck out of the screen on his DSi. The screens on our kids' DS are still in great shape, probably because we put screen protectors on it.

Normal 3ds screen protectors are the same right?

Listing says light scratches on screen not visable when on so i'd like to keep it that way ... I may replace the screen one day but i'd just like to enjoy it atm

It also say pen[stylus] wont lock in but seller say its defo a 2ds one? I bet its a ds lite/dsi one

TBH I had to look that one up. But it seems the og 2DS has the same screen size as the og 3DS.

(I don't feel so bad playing games on my og 2DS now that I know that. LOL.)

When I got the screen protectors for my og 2DS I just searched for the 2DS Screen Protector on eBay.

All it takes is a bit of sand caught under your finger or pen to put a big scratch on the screen.

'been there and done that with a Palm Pilot III years, and years ago. Ever since then, if a screen protector is available I put one on. Our Switch has a glass screen protector. So does my phone. But I just went with plastic film for our DS and 2DS.

That is probably the case. Mine was the same when I got it. But I happened to buy one of those cheap packs of 5 pens off of eBay for our DS because I was worried my kids would keep losing the pens when they'd use the DS. As it turned out, I was the only one losing pens. LOL. Anyway . . . I tried out all the pens I had, and found one DS one that kinda stuck in there. I keep a spare loose one in the case I got for the 2DS.

Nice list!

Someone told me Spirit Tracks is a good game. But here in Canada / USA . . . its a pretty pricey cartridge. "If" I finish off a few of the Zelda games I already have . . . I might treat myself to that one down the road. We'll see. LOL.

Hey . . . Happy Gaming!
