I loved mario golf, but would still like to see hal's hole in one golf...loved that game. Secret of mana is one of the few rpg's I never played and it sounds like I missed alot. What are it's selling points?
well downloaded the y's rpg because of all of you saying how great it is, but it is really lame. The combat system of running into your opponent is horrible, not really rpg material...heck even bard's tale/pool of radiance/wasteland for the c64 was loads better, you had to stratagize and make decisions. Not just, let me walk into the bad guy from this or that angel. What a waste of money and time. SMRPG = tons better.
I had almost given up hope on the vc...now maybe some of the other great games truly have a chance to be released....maybe even another n64 game or two...like banjo-kazooie in connection with his new one.
bring on mystic quest, see how the worst of the ff games does, and go from there. I mean come on, who is goin g to buy mystic quest on the psp or ds? so try that one out and see what happens.
okay, I have a question. on my xbox360 I just got the ring of death, and the company is sending me a new xbox, what if something happens to my wii and it breaks? Unlike games you buy and own in rl, virtual games are attatched to this wii. I have spent alot of money on games, and now I am worried that they will just go poof some day.
What if something happens to my wii, and I have purchased like a ton of wiiware games. How do I show ownership of the virtual game. What if my wii gets damaged, how do I protect myself. I am worried now about buying virtual games after the ring of death. And I have spent alot on them already. Does this worry anyone else?
this release makes me so mad, I have been waiting forever for tetris attack, and now because of this crap poke crap game, I may not see it for a long time. Tetris attack is an awesome game with great mario backgrounds and even better music...I could give a rip about some poke crap. Thanks alot nintendo...you could have given us mario...instead we get some card game wannabe game instead.
Come on, the mario title is the better game...step up and give us the good stuff. Japan got it, why not us too? You can keep your PPL for the little kids.
fco: alot of those are on the gamecube greatest arcade hits disc, pretty cheap to pick up too, tapper...that was a funny but frustrating game.
Dion: you listed games wanted on the vc, are you saying that since you did not have a disk drive like we did that you do not desire those games???
What kind of sense does that make? If I have not played a game because I could not get access to it I may want to play it more, thus great games like sin and punishment would be on lists I would make before it came out. If you are going to say top ten games wanted, you should then put...that I have had a chance to play, not just that they are wanted.
I cannot believe that wasteland (awesome from beginning to end), Pirates (this is the original, and the best fight with swords and cannons), pool of radiance/curse of the azure bonds (The best of the SSI games, they came in the infamous gold boxes) , Legacy of the Ancients and Ultima iv quest of the avatar (these two rpgs were alot alike and were great game play for hours at a time), Bards tale ( I am partial to this game since my avatar is the front of the folding game case, this was gameplay for hours, with only the hum of the disk drive loading the next 5" to interupt your great time) not to mention games like space taxi, M.U.L.E and raid over moscow!!!
Come on people stick with the proven great games if you are making a top ten list, not the wannabees
I love homestar runner, and strongbad is so very funny, if you have not seen his teen girl squad you are missing alot. I visit the website almost as much as this one.
Come on people this is the greatest rpg made, it ate up so man y of my days as a teen it was great. No rpg list should be created without it being near the top.
I was talking about the selling points to the c64, I shelled out $250 for my c64 just fort hose games, they were something that was unique to the c64 that you could not get anywhere else. It brought rpgs to the mass in a marketing way (ssi) that made this machine relevant to a new and diverse audiance. That was my point. I think this had alot to do with the longevity that you spoke about. It did in it's time what the wii does today, hits a group of people that were not known for investing in computer screens, when they had the turn based games in real life.
great article, but what about all the great ssi gold box tie ins, they linked up with dungeons and dragons and forgotten realms at a time when no one else was even thinking about book tie ins. those gold box editions of pool of radiance, curse of the azure bonds and the like siezed a generation of d & d readers into the gaming world forever.
please give us the ssi gold box games, pool of radiance, curse of the azure bonds, eye of the beholder, and great rpg like bards tale and wasteland...best games ever.
I rushed to not play that game, the baby crying was like nail on chalk board for me, do people even know what a chalk board is now days? What with white baords and smart boards and such...lol
makes me think about the grav gun in half life, and if other players had a grav gun too and you could fight with each other using the grav guns only...limited power guns at least.
I think that the problem could be in the emulations process, I am just typing out loud so to speak, but if you allow an outside source that is not directly connected to the original hard drive to access and play games then I believe that it would be much easier to hack the wii's personal coding and allow for an emulator to be a phantom wii hard drive. responding with the owners liscence to play the games, but from an external source, and then placed onto the usb drives. I can understand if the internals to thier hard drive are directly accessible to the information that is only on the drive associated with that particular wii, but when you start allowing outside drives to access that information I can see people taking advantage of the hd images and speading near and far, for everyone to share.
I have been wondering how they would keep this from happening in the future with everyone wanting to use the least expensive way to run thier programs, but to keep the wii security alive per system.
Kelvingreen, I must agree about that one, heroes was such a waste of money and time, I kept trying to squeeze any kind of fun out of it to justify the money I spent on it, but alas, it was not a curse of the azure bonds type of rpg. I miss the old ssi gold box games.
wow, now there are some bad games, sorry guys I just miss the real oldies like wasteland and bards tale, or pool of radiance. Does anyone know what I am talking about?
First release where I have not played any of them, I love rpg's like shining force, pool of radiance and mario rpg, is light crusader worth the 800 points?
I loved this game, hours of single and vs play for me. If you want a great title this is it. Please release this soon, I miss the music and such so badly.

My take anyway

Re: US VC Releases - Christmas Eve - Donkey Kong Country 3
I am very sad this christmas, I was really hoping for something better, N64 games for christmas would have been nice.

Re: EU VC Releases - 21st December - Blades of Steel
Wow, too bad for you guys, I would have thought n64 for christmas, but blades of steel is a cool game, but it is dated no matter what they say.
