Re: Talking Point: Unique and Affordable - Nintendo's NX Needs to Avoid Direct Competition With PlayStation and Xbox

If all of the rumors about the NX are actually true, then Nintendo is poised to completely change the face of console gaming as we know it.

Let's face it: as time passes, and with each new generation with their successive upgrades, the line that divides console and PC gaming becomes more and more blurry. The question that Microsoft and Sony both need to ask themselves, is whether they want to keep pushing things to the point where one of their own product lines is in danger of cannibalizing the sales of one of their other product lines. Personally, I think we're one more console generation away from this becoming a serious question.

By the time the PS5 and next XBox_____ come out, unless these companies build systems that are a radical departure from a "traditional" console design, Nintendo will be sitting in the catbird seat as the only "Un-PC" choice in gaming.

NVIDIA uses the "tick tock" strategy when designing their chips, so the version of the X1 chip we've seen already may not be the same one that will make it into the NX.

This explains the process:

If we get the version of the X1 chip that uses a dual core Denver CPU instead of the Maxwell CPU found in the NVIDIA Shield, the NX will be a BEAST:
