I think everyone complaining hasn't actually played an Animal Crossing game with others before. This whole "one console, one living space" feature is central to the game. Yes it means somebody might dig up the fossils or donate a few fish before you get to. But it's nice to see what they do while you're away.

Growing up, I had to share my town with my younger brother. He trampled flowers, cut down trees, and taught the villagers naughty words. But he got excited when he was able to put a new fish or bug in the museum and he left some pretty cool designs in the Able Sisters' shop.

Playing now with my wife, she's the resident representative and plays more than I do. But that's fine. Nook Miles are ridiculously easy to collect. Even without an Online subscription (we have no friends, so no need to pay that ), anyone can hop on a plane, visit a mystery island, collect more resources, and invite a new resident.

The rule may be a little restrictive, but it is very Animal Crossing. And the experience is still pleasant.
