Re: Soapbox: Why I'm Not Excited About Playing NES Games On The Nintendo Switch

@chardir it is. And oviously if it has been delayed it was because Nintendo though wanted to, but because preparing the NES games took more than expected. EMulting those games on swithc, plus online play, plus improvements, plus filters, plus reduction of batery consumtion (emulated games usually consume a lot more battery) took them more than expected, and as a result we received more free months of something that we sould be paying for.

I mean, it is clear that these servers are much better than teh Wii U ones. Play MK or Splatoon in wee and comparre it to playing on Switch.

Why doesn't anywone get it?? Nintendo is doing it right, it is just the marketing that is wrong. People complain that it is not fair to pay for something that was free, but the Switch Online Service was never supposed to be free. Nintendo however decided to give it for free until they can add something more. We were lucky, and nobody seems to see it. Nintendo assumed the price of the online service maintainance when it was supposed to be paid by us.

It is as siple as this:
1) Nintendo planned to charge for Switch Online play at launch.
2) The offered price, 20€, was already competitive with PS4 and XBOX one. Yeah, you wouldn't get any "free games", but you were just paying for the online service. Many people would prefer to be able to play PS4 online for a chepaer price, and they wouldn't care if that included games. So yeah, If you ask PS4 users if they would preffer to pay only 20€ for online play and not have any "free" games, many gamers would accept that deal.
3) However, Nintendo thought, even if we are offering a good value for money, we should add something more while keeping the same price.
4) Therefore, Nintendo decided to give us temporarily for free a service that wwas going to be charged from the beggining util they could add something more to the service, even if the value for money was already right. And in the mantime, Nintendo would pay for the mainteinance of the serves, something that was supposed to be maintained with our subscriptions. That is why there is no improvement on the servers with the online subscription, because this servers were already designed for a subscrition system.
5) Nintendo then decided to add the NES games for free, as a plus to the service. This means that when you are paying the online service, you are not really paying for the games, you are paying to play online, and the NES games are just an added present.

If at launch Nintendo had said: "You will have to pay 20€ to play online from day 1" (without including any free games), then people would have understood that it made sense, and would ahve also udnerstood that if they wanted an online service with games, they would have to pay a more expensive online subscription.

Howver, nintendo didn't communicate this correctly, and people just think "why should I pay for something that was for free?? A yes.. we are paying for NES games".

it is as simple as that

Re: Even If It’s Not Perfect, It’s Better Than Nothing, Says Mighty No. 9 Creator Keiji Inafune

Reading all the comments after knowing it was mistranslated was a lot of fun. I first read the "better than nothing" phrase in another website and I myself started to tell my brother how ridiculous Inafune was. Also, one of the post reminded me that Inafune was not the one how created the gameplay of megaman. Mn9 has had such a hype and it has suffered so many delays that I had totally forgotten that Inafune was just the art director of the old megaman games. However, I must agree (although I have not tried the game) that producing a mediocre game with 4 mil that come from backers is reason enogh to destroy his reputation.

However, the only true thing that bothers me is that the game has caused bricks on wii u. Wtf?? That literally means 0 betatesting on wii u, and worse, it also means that Nintendo does not check if new eshop games brick the console until its to late.
Because of this mediocre game, now I am afraid of buying multiplatform games at launch because they might brick my wii u.
