You know it's hard to show how something is bad without, y'know, SHOWING the bad thing in question, right? Show vs tell, very basic storytelling stuff we were taught as kids in school.
@Hyrule Pretty much agreeing w/ NEStalgia on this one. E3 may've been a factor but a very small one at most, and in all likelihood nowhere near the factor as a $200 discount towards a new Switch by trading in old PS4s and XBOs.
Which, hey, it worked and that's good. I'm still curious about the logistics behind those kind of trade-in deals (who starts them and for how long, what reimburstments Gamestop gets for basically taking a hit on each Switch sold w/ the trade-in, etc.), but I figure we'll see stuff like that in the future w/ all three consoles from time to time.
@Hyrule Some of us are just putting the information in the correct frame of reference. Gamestop has a trade-in deal for up to $200 towards Switch. Switch sales double at Gamestops nationwide.
@FlimFlam I don't think they doubled nationwide; keep in mind, Gamestop had some REALLY good trade-in deals for Switch during June, better than any other retailer online or B&M.
So I can see how sales doubled in Gamestop locations but maybe didn't double elsewhere (may've seen nice improvements in most other locations though).
While this is pretty good news, didn't Gamestop have some massive trade-in deals for Switch around E3 time? I specifically recall people able to get up to $200 for a Switch if they traded in PS4s and XBOs, so if that's the case it's hardly surprising Switch sales doubled across Gamestop outlets.
Good news nonetheless, but it's something to keep in mind. Also I wonder what the logistics are behind-the-scenes when any of the Big 3 set up deals like that w/ Gamestop (or if it's something Gamestop does on their own...something tells me that wouldn't sit well w/ the others if Gamestop's the one initiating the deals).

Re: GameStop Reveals That Switch Sales Doubled In The Week After E3
@otissprings People'll remember this stuff when PS5 comes out however, and it could hurt them around that time. We'll see though.

It's not hard to see there's a correlation

@sauce It's good news but something tells me the giant trade-in deals Gamestop had for Switch around E3 played heavily into these sales results.
