@Nickolaidas I think it's because everything else looks so much like the MCU, so when one thing doesn't (the characters faces) it sticks out. To be fair, it would be even more jarring if they used the film actors faces and then changed the voices, but I think Crystal Dynamics shot themselves in the foot a bit with this.
PS4's Spider-Man is clearly not part of the MCU (very different costume, Peter Parker is twice his age in the films etc.) it was deliberately doing its own thing, which is why nobody brought this up then. But it's very clear that this game is aping the MCU, at least aesthetically, which is a shame because I'd prefer it if it had a more original take on the characters/world.
However I agree people are blowing this way out of proportion, especially when we've seen so little of the game.
@Rika_Yoshitake I did look it up actually, if you're referring to how you can technically play it without motion controls if you place it on a flat surface. But I didn't think it was worth mentioning, since it might as well not be considered an option. The switch is supposed to be a portable device. If you're only allowing this play style when the switch is stationary on a flat surface, then you're still punishing disabled players because they won't be able to use the switch portably, which is one of the main selling points isn't it? Again, there's absolutely no reason they had to make them mandatory in every other scenario. It's still a valid criticism, and not one that should be conflated with irrational fan reviews.
@Rika_Yoshitake If you're disabled and you can't use these motion controls, then they have ruined your experience haven't they? They could have easily made the motion controls optional, but they didn't, and now a lot of people who might have otherwise wanted to play this game physically can't. Do you not see how it's ridiculous to conflate people whining about a game they don't like, and legitimate complaints about accessibility?
@Friscobay Oh yeah, I'm not saying that amazon have our best interests at heart. I'm just saying that there are some legitimate reasons for getting rid of obviously irrational user reviews.
@Crono1973 @Friscobay I think you're missing the point about the amazon thing. I don't doubt that amazon are more then happy to remove bad scores, as it means they will sell more copies. But user reviews are also supposed to help customers in making purchasing decisions. Do you really think the hundreds of "Baby game for babys!! Worst gam evr!" 0/5 reviews are useful to anyone?
@Trikeboy Yes, you're quite right. Nintendo isn't obligated to do anything. That doesn't mean whatever they do is right. They don't HAVE to make their back catalogue accessible... But when they start taking down major resources for games preservation and not offering an alternative, it's bad on the whole for gaming as a medium. If people have no way to access older games in the future, so much of gaming history is going to be lost.
Also, they WERE providing the Roms for free. Nowhere in that pdf that you linked does it say they were actually selling Roms. They made money from the ads on their website, but I doubt they made a significant amount, probably just enough to keep the sites running (although that's just me guessing).
@Masurao What's this got to do with "SJWs"? They did this so they could keep their age rating, not out of some backlash from easily upset people on the internet. You're kinda missing the point. So what if the tables were in pubs back in the day? Now, they're being sold in digital form on the switch, and the company want to keep their family friendly image. Although I agree it's a little disappointing in terms of preservation (but ultimately, who actually cares?..)
