This game seems dreadfully dull and simplistic at first. Play it for fifteen minutes, though, and you will probably become hooked. Level 5 is a great challenge, and you will find yourself breaking a sweat as you alternate strategic slams and lobs. This is only surpassed by Wii tennis in my mind. Some may consider this a coup, but I give Tennis a 5/5.
This is one of the most enjoyable two-player games that I have ever played. The one-player mode is a bit too easy, but I have not played a more addictive football game since this. Tecmo Bowl gets 5/5.
I agree with Daz yet again. I actually appreciate the control scheme: your vertical jump can cover about half of the screen, and you can float in an almost horizontal line, but the monsters tend to try to corner you. The secrets save this one, but the repetition and banality of this title prevents me from giving more than a 2/5.
Kid Icarus was my second game, but I enjoy it for more than nostalgic reasons. I've beaten it at least six times now. The music, difficulty curve, and level design keep me coming back. This game epitomizes the best of the NES adventure game genre. This is not far off from Metroid, but they got the mythology all wrong. Icarus is called Pit and tries to kill Medusa, who is supposed to be killed by Perseus. The Plutos are only remotely related to Hades, the god of the the realm that bears his name and also precious metals. Nonetheless, I cannot recommend this enough. Just don't get turned into an eggplant. 5/5.
This used to be one of my favorite games, but that was when I had four friends who played it with me. This Gauntlet-style dungeon game has an extra level of complexity, a superb soundtrack, and an impressive difficulty curve. Use the DEBDE DEBDA password for wacky fun. This is above average. 4/5.
Dragon's Curse is a cutesy time-waster, but it is certainly not in the same class as Zelda 2 or Faxanadu. Get this only if you have extra Wii points to spare. 3/5.
This game features some remarkable music. Check out the Minibosses' cover of its tunes. Castlevania is quite difficult, but I find that it draws me back again and again. This one is a 5/5 for me.
Brilliant! I love the musical score, the bonus stages, the pinball physics...great fun! The TG-16 was home to the three best pinball games ever: Alien Crush, Devil's Crush, and Time Cruise. Amazing replay value. Alien Crush will be one of the VC games that you play the most if you have any interest in pinball.
I find myself agreeing with this reviewer. If you like puzzlers like Lolo, Kickle Cubickle, and Splash Lake, you will probably like this. Recommended for all ages. Chew Man Fu earns a 4/5 from me for the hours of meaningful gameplay that it offers the player.
This is my favorite NES game. This is saying a great deal since I've played about 200 of them. Brilliant. Graphics, gameplay, music, and challenge make it #1. It gets an easy 5/5.
I skipped over this one in the 80s and 90s. I have it now on the VC, and it is great. Disregard the graphics. The puzzles will keep you coming back! 4/5 stars from me too.

Re: Soldier Blade
Great game (like so many other TG-16 classics). Party on!
