Re: Feature: Our Team Reflects on a Week With Nintendo Switch

Favorite console ever. I love the size of it, the controllers are so comfy in my small lady hands. It fits in perfectly to my lifestyle where i am traveling 50% of the time.

I wasn't at all hyped about Zelda, only got it because its Zelda. Turned out to be one of the best games ever. Both the console and game have far exceeded my hopes.

No interest in any other software outside the games so haven't noticed that its lacking.

@thedicemaster Hi, thanks for your input! Let me try and explain;

Yea there are similarities but Lifespeed isn't an airplane racer. The physics for the ships isn't that of a plane but rather a flying car similar if you can imagine what it would be like to play the Delorean in Back To The Future 2.

AiRace also has a much slower pace and isn't restricted to being in a tunnel and the other AiRace games are pure time trial games with no AI to race against.

So I agree with you there are similarities and if you blended the two types of AiRace together then you would probably get something very similar but not exact (the physics would still be different).

Unfortunately I was already well into the development before I ever heard of AiRace (Xeno first and then the rest). If you really want to know what the biggest influences where then it was the final scene in return of the Jedi, Star Fox, Mario Kart and believe it or not Pilot Wings which when I started was the biggest influence (that's where the rings come from) but the game morphed during development.

I hope I've given you an idea of where this game came from and perhaps how others are made.

@Wolfenstein83 thanks very much! For us it was the toss up between making a crappy looking game and having multiplayer or trying to make something decent and dropping multiplayer as we just didn't have the resources for both.

@maceng Glad to hear you are going to get Lifespeed, hope you enjoy. I've already mentioned about the doesn't- appear-to-save-your-progress-issue in the comments above so the reviewer may see it there. TBH as a tiny indie we are just glad to get a review at all for the exposure!

@JaxonH Thanks for your support! Yes we basically did the math based on how many tracks Mario Kart had versus Lifespeed. Then another drop in price to take into the account we are an Indie releasing their first game. The more people who buy it now the more chance we have of making that Switch dream a reality!

@Xaessya Give it a go, its a fun game with mario-kart type game play and a bargain. It does only have 8 tracks but what the reviewer failed to note was we priced it cheap because of that (£4.99, $5.99, €5.99)!

One little comment, possibly something that should have been better explained during the game! It does save your progress but if you quit the game then it stores that state i.e. you have ended the game. Instead you should just close the game.
