I wasn't saying that Nintendo needed to use ads like that in today's market, but the fact is that the DKC ad worked well in the time period as kind of a response to the whole SEGA does what Nintendon't ad era, whereas DKC went on to sell over 9 million copies and was the 2nd highest selling SNES game. I know the modern video game market isn't what it used to be and I was merely responding to your statement where Nintendo has "never" released a good ad or commercial.

(Whilst no one is looking) Quickly changes his answers to Sonic 1-3 & Knuckles though the Sega Genesis (Megadrive) has not been confirmed yet. (Then goes to cry in a corner for not realizing the DKC games have been taken of the Wii VC, but hopes for the future and that they may yet be re-released to see the light of day on the superior Wii U VC as he HATES to use the Wii Mode on the Wii U!)

I've talked to several people who are gamers that own an Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and heck even retro console like the NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Saturn and so on, and didn't even know there was a NEW Nintendo system. When I told them it was called the Wii U I get weird looks and they ask me if it is an add on to the Wii or something.

Cool, can't wait until they announce Donkey Country 1-3, so I can play them on the Gamepad!

The problem lies with the branding of the system Wii U. It was the same problem the 3DS had at launch. Parents and other consumers don't understand it is a new system and just think it is and expansion or add on. I have to say they should of named it something else, but I believe Nintendo was going off of the strong brand name of the Wii to try to attract people to the system but it has backfired.

It's funny this is supposed to be the year for Luigi, but I see him totally being overshadowed by Link in the Nintendo Direct. While I found the beginning of the Direct boring Nintendo really started getting my attention with the new Yoshi's Island game. Oh and I may get that Animal Crossing 3DS XL as I have been on the fence about upgrading!

Pikmin 3 probably coming in 2013. LOL, Come on Nintendo.......

I really need to sit down and focus on beating Xenoblade, but I know I am just kidding myself, and I am going to be playing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate instead.

I've played the game 30+ hours and still feel like a newb ha ha, but it is addictive nonetheless. Though sometimes it can be frustrating. Anyone bored with the system owes it to themselves to buy this game.

I think its sad that everyone was going haywire over his own opinion. Who really cares what this guy thinks. The 3DS is still going to sell, games are still going to be released for it, and people are still going to play it. Get over it.

I heard this was a great game when it was released. Also on the note of this being the "Ultimate Edition", I would hope it would be, with the Wii U being a more powerful system and such. Oh and ccanfield1 I can almost bet it will be at least $49.99 when it releases.

I purchased Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate at Gamestop yesterday, and when I was browsing the Wii U section, I noticed I did not see LEGO City anywhere. When I was in line checking out the guy behind the counter was going through the motions of trying to get me to get their card, (I respectfully declined) he then proceeded to ask me if there was any games I wanted to pre-order and before I could let out a breath and say no, he was already going down the list. LEGO City was one of those games. I was thinking to myself wasn't that supposed to come out yesterday? I guess this news proves the point.........

May get this only on the fact I haven't bought a game since launch and my Wii U needs a new game. I played the demo and thought it was OK, though it takes awhile to get used to the control scheme and how the different way the weapons work.

You would think Nintendo would learn from their mistakes with the 3DS instead of repeating them, but we are seeing the same things going on. I don't think things will pick up until later in the year, as I don't see LEGO, or Monster Hunter being big system sellers. Pikmin may move a few units but I don't see it being a big system seller either, (though I would love to be proven wrong upon it's release) as the series has only sold 3.79 million worldwide (that is with the Wii re-releases). http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=Pikmin

I read as many different reviews on games as much as possible. Games are expensive entertainment and I work hard for my money and I don't want to throw it away on a game that is not worth my time. I usually check gamerankings.com and read a lot of reviews to get as many opinions to get a bigger picture. Some sites you can't trust or have a bias, so if I see a lot of people saying the same things (good, or bad) than I know what to expect.

@JogurtTheYogurt Phantasy Star IV is a masterpiece and one of my all time favorite RPGs!

Xenoblade, Persona 4 Golden, Link's Awakening and maybe Etrian Odyssey III, while I await IV to be shipped to my house.

I still own the GB cart of Legend of the River King somewhere. The game is ok, and has an interesting idea behind it, but I don't remember playing it much as a younger child. The interesting thing about the game that intrigued me (at the time) was you had a virtual fish tank where you could raise fish and take care of them, all in black and white!

I hope I get to keep my "single player" RPG experiences, ugh MMORPG's are too much of a chore.

Hey the Legend of Zelda Oracle games!

This is disappointing indeed, as I had the game on my radar for some time now.... Not anymore, due to horrible overall reviews.

@Jukilum While you are right about it not officially being a 5GB update per say, with the update and the space to OS takes it is about 5GB taken up of the system anyways. For example when I look at the space left on my system I've got 3190 MB left. I do have five game saves with MB ranges from 21 to 92 being the highest. So all in all it still isn't ideal, but like I said external memory isn't that expensive...

It also doesn't help that there was no real exclusive killer app for the system at launch either. Some may say NSMBU, and while I find it a good game I don't believe it is a revelation that you must buy a Wii U for. I think Nintendo really just rode out on 3rd party support for the launch of the system, which were mostly ports of games already released (excluding Zombiu) on other systems.

Lets face it, most people that bought one at launch got one for the 1st party Nintendo games that are going to come out in the future of the system, or to try to may a quick profit by re-selling it to someone (at a higher price) unfortunate enough to not preorder it soon enough during the whole "craze" of the few months before launch. Everyone else is either waiting on the fence, does not like Nintendo games or like I stated earlier they do not understand the Wii U.

Not surprised at all with the sales to say the least. I do believe some bad press hurt Nintendo around the launch of the Wii U, and there are still people that are probably confused about the system. I also think the 5 GB update was a bit ridiculous, especially to those that have just the basic set (myself included) but I know that external storage isn't expensive but still........

@pikmaniac I too find it weird they would officially announce GBA games on the Wii U before the 3DS, but I guess that is Nintendo for ya..

@techwiz97 I have the same problems you have stated above, and I too also wish I could have access to the home menu when playing multiplayer or zombies, but no, if I want to check to see if I have friends online or Miiverse I have to leave the multiplayer menu and go to the campaign menu. It is all just very annoying, and I hope the patch also decreases load times as well.

Well this is probably the game I'm most excited about this year for sure. Though it is kinda strange it is called Pokemon X & Y. They must have ran out of colors to use or something..... Oh and Nintendo is going to be printing money after this releases with all the 3DS's and Pokemon X & Y games that are going to be selling in the fall......

Sounds good and all but im not certain on the look of the starters...(Though I usually think that about every new gen after Red and Blue, it just takes me awhile to warm up to them..)

I guess Pikmin 3 is about the only stand out in my opinion though I have my eyes on Game & Wario......

Wish I could vote for both Animal Crossing and Bravely Default, but I can't so I had to settle for voting on AC, because it is not certain Bravely Default is coming out of Japan.... I also have to say 2013 looks alot better on 3DS than the Wii U does.....

@MagicBox Yea I was going to say the same thing.... Oh and my system has only froze once while playing Sonic All Stars Racing online.... I was worried and the only thing I could do to it was to unplug the system from the electric to get it to respond and reset itself......

This Wii mini is kinda ugly and with no online functionality it just seems kinda pointless, but Nintendo doesn't care, they just want your money.

Wow is all I can say.

Didn't buy it when it was released and probably still won't buy it now. Besides the game has mainly gotten "average" scores across the board which by all means it is not a bad game, but just not awesome like I had come to expect from Nintendo.

Lets see.... Pokemon White 2 (DS), SWTOR (PC), NSMBU (Wii U), Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed (Wii U), Ninja Gaiden 3 Razors Edge (Wii U), Mass Effect 3 (Wii U) and maybe some Skyrim (PC). Oh and I may decide to play my SNES at some point as well for DKC action.

Yea I find using Youtube from the Web Browser much faster and easier! The app was slow....

I guess developers won't be happy until the Wii U has Blast Processing........
