@dodgeskill100 I hear the game isn’t good in its free mobile form. The game is pretty fantastic on console and in no way plays itself. In order to beat each potato on maximum level you have to make careful decisions and play precisely. It’s pretty challenging. The fact that targeting/attack is automatic does less to take away your agency and more to put a hard focus on your movement and decision making.
Hi Damien, I read your article, but I struggle to understand the spin you’ve put into the headline. As Nintendo enthusiasts, most of us would not want to buy ourselves a 3DS at this point. So this far after the launch of 3DS and this far into the switch isn’t it tremendously impressive that they still sold 600k in a year?
How did the WiiU or the PSVita do at a similar time point?
You could have just as easily had a headline calling the 3DS the little unit that keeps on selling. (This would also be a bad headline of course).
I’m interested in why you chose your emphasis. I do hope it’s not simply that emotional headlines get more clicks because I thought better of a site like this that is made for enthusiasts.
I don't think the main series games demo well at all. I have put 100s of hours into MH games, but couldn't enjoy the demos. You would think that a hard battle would be a good way to demonstrate the game but it just doesn't work. There is so much pleasure in the gameplay loop, progression by improving your gear, getting better by learning the behaviour of the monsters, so you can read them. None of that comes across in the demos. If you have thought about MH, consider taking a punt and giving it a real shot. Maybe when a version is finally released for Switch...
