Re: Reggie: "No European Brawl 'Till Autumn"

It seems you've already written off any arguments that conflict with your view, but how exactly does Wii Fit and Mario Kart compensate for a god-awful release date for Brawl? I won't be buying Wii Fit, as I have a have no interest in it, and Mario Kart is ok, but nothing on Brawl. Nintendo need to stop pissing off their consumers by clinging to crap release dates, poor excuses, and region-locking if they want to keep me as a customer. I love Nintendo, but lately, they need a firm foot up the ass.

It shouldn't be a case of giving MK and Wii Fit earlier to 'compensate'; they should be realising these are their biggest titles of the year, so they should produce enough copies for all regions, and do world-wide releases. It seems Nintendo just aren't learning, that, or success may have gone to their heads.

Not if you have to play the 50hz VC versions it doesn't

Sonic 3 (and Knuckles) are the only MD Sonics that have even a vague sense of their real speed in 50hz.

Re: 1080 Snowboarding

TwinCross

After loving 1080 Avalanche on the 'cube, I thought I'd try it's predecessor. What a dissapointment.

The controls are unforgivabely sloppy, tricks are annoying to pull off, and even free riding feels loose. I swear it's easier to fall over in this game than it is doing real snowboarding (being a 'boarder myself, I can say that)!
The music, whilst technically impressive, is an abomination.
And worst of all, the game lacks character. Courses are bland, and the characters are dull with crap-tastic voices.

OK, I get it. It's more of a realistic snowboarding sim than Avalanche (which focused on arcade-style gameplay), but it's a sloppy, half-finished, dissapointment of a snowboarding sim. Do yourself a favour, AVOID, and save the money for a copy of Avalanche, you'll have a hell of a lot more fun.

EDIT:

KhaoShar, it might just be me, but I don't think the Classic Controller worked well on this one. To me, tucking felt flimsy, and pulling off tricks was more like a case of luck rather than button presses. And before you say, it's a new Classic Controller, it works fine .

Re: Donkey Kong Country

Even though DKC 2 is the better game, I prefer this one, although that may be due to the fact I hate Dixie Kong. Anyway, fluid, responsive platforming and great visuals, although you might that you occasionly hit a level that impedes your progress for a while.

Re: Beyond Oasis

Enjoyable and colourful, but the contols feel a little sluggish, the music is forgettable, and having to restart an entire dungeon if you die is just frustating.

Re: ActRaiser

TwinCross

Very fun, addictive, compelling, and unique. The only downside is that some of the platforming bits can be very tricky, but still a great game.

Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 2

My only problem with this is that certain levels will demand speed, then shove an enemy in your face without giving you time to react. Apart from that, The special stages are awesome, super sonic is kick-*ss, and the levels have brilliant themes and a huge nostalgia factor.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

I own the Wind Waker bonus disk, and the collector's disk, but I still picked this up. Simply epic, it contains one of my favourite gaming moments ever; the atmosphere of the final boss. Simply superb.

The only problem I found with the VC version is that to lock on, you have to use the horrible 'clicky-ness' of the Classic controller, rather than the soft-touch shoulder button of the GC controller on the bonus disks.

Re: Sonic 3D Blast

The game itself is ok, but the best bits were the special stages in the Saturn version (still the best sonic special stages IMO). Without those, this game is only worth picking up if you are a sonic completionist.
