Ehh... I played through it and I'm with some of the other commenters here, it's not that special. The guy has a following so that's why that and the big "7 years in the making" were good marketing enough to catch NintendoLife's attention, but there are definitely more impressive Super Worlds out there that didn't get a fraction of attention that this one did. It's not bad by any means, but it's not even as traditional Mario as it aims to be, some of the levels fail the basic concept of level flow Nintendo applies to most Mario games.
@NintendoByNature Depends. He's a huuuuuuge Minecraft YouTuber and almost an icon for the Minecraft community, but he's only relevant if 1 you're a big Minecraft fan yourself, or 2 you have a habit of following youtube culture since other big YouTubers do mention him a lot.
@Anti-Matter People like different things, there's no reason to be annoyed by that. For instance games like GTA, Fortnite, Minecraft, and Call of Duty are as huge as ever, but they don't interest me in the slightest. And that's fine, I understand their appeal but they are not for me, and there's an ocean of games I can enjoy and have a great time with, the same goes for you.
@Mythra Never said THE most. One of them for sure, though. I'm pretty confident Inklings might already be more recognizable than Samus to a lot of the youth in Japan, for instance.
For the people who denied Splatoon being a top tier Nintendo franchise, take that!! I could definitely see Inklings taking the podium of most recognizable Nintendo characters in the near future, it's getting that big. And I love it.
@Travisemo007 You know that Nintendo themselves released tons of 3DS models without the 3D effect, right? As well as tons of games that didn't support 3D either, right?
@Baler I don't know either why comment on an article about X game if said person had no interest in X game. Doesn't drive discussion and feels pointless imo.
With that said, love to see it, I've been in love with Splatoon ever since the first game and I'm delighted to see the positive reception and sales even after seeing online backlash saying the third entry was unnecessary. Yet another reminder we should never take internet doom and gloom at face value.
I don't like how the article is phrased as either "I'll buy them all" or "I'll buy none of it" situation. I don't think it's that binary. I for instance got Wind Waker HD back on the WiiU because I loved the QOL additions, it looked gorgeous, and I didn't own a Gamecube anymore. Similar reason for Link's Awakening on the Switch. Yet I skipped on Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword HD because what the new versions brought to the table wasn't enough for me to justify a purchase. I don't think it's that complex. Why is it so hard to just not buy it? We're not hostages to nostalgia or our wallets, and if someone is, I think this is less of a Nintendo issue and more of a you issue.
@Miles_Edgeworth I never understood this sentiment personally. Whenever I want to play something that I really care for I'll do it as fast as I can, and it usually makes me much more realized knowing I was one of the first ones there at launch, talking about the game with other passionate fans and witnessing everything together. Playing something much, much later doesn't feel like something I would be jealous of.

Re: Random: Undertale Creator Is Now Writing Columns For Famitsu, Replacing Sakurai
@duffmmann That's a pretty rude thing to say. Sakurai has a great relationship with Toby and I'm sure he was happy to pass the torch to him.
