I'm not too huge on football games, but when they first described how this would play out on the Wii U, I was very excited. I immediately thought how fun it would be for local multiplayer to choose plays without the other player seeing (my brother and I would watch each other all the time). THEN they announced that this gen won't support two gamepads in local play. Still, the on-the-fly play calling looks very nice.
@Xilef Ah, but I know plenty of people that have solely designed their pc to handle gaming almost exclusively. I hear your angle on it, but the strength of the pc is the massive back-catalog, and the sheer power you can dump into it.
@Haxonberik I completely agree about the lack of focus on a phone/tablet. It's kind of the nature of the device. You grow bored of it, it's because you have other features you can use the device for. NOT just gaming. Whereas on a console, it is a gaming device, so that's what you're expecting it to be. You won't have a text message interrupt you, no status updates, no phone calls, no looking at someone's new photos. You are in a game. You play the game. You keep playing until you cannot anymore. I've played for many hours straight on my 3DS, and on my DS before that. I maybe have stayed focused for a max of 25 mins straight on my phone.
I can't help but feel that it's backwards. That being said, I suppose I WOULD go with a basic if that was the only way, and the storage can be expanded. As for the accessories, I honestly would most likely not use them. Still.......
I think it would depend on the game, more than anything. There are some games that I'd just play non-stop, so a cartridge would be best. Then, there are games that are more sporadic, or in smaller doses (like Animal Crossing for me) that would benefit me to have digitally.
@spidey1010 I think the best part of having save files on the system is when a friend is borrowing your game, you won't have to worry about your save files. I've had the misfortune of that in the past.
There's so much to say about this. I don't think any Nintendo system really bragged about being about powerful since the SNES. The 64 was to a point, but people flocked to CG cutscenes. They have tried to be outside the norm, though, making the games and systems differently and new in some cases. I haven't cared so much for graphics over the years as much as enjoyment. Still, though, I find it disconcerting that it may not have enough power for multiple controller pads. Albeit, even though I wanted support for two, and will have two, I doubt they'll both be utilized too often. About the 720 resolution, I find this funny, because I have seen so many PS3 games that support a MAXIMUM of 720 over the years. This, coming from the company and system that trumpeted HD graphics and power being paramount. The titles that I saw at 720 weren't no bargain-bin affair, either. I recall one a couple of the Madden titles maxing out at 720, and I think even a COD title. I remember laughing about it, because 360 almost always had 1080, even though it was a "weaker" system of the two. The only request I have about the resolution and graphics, is that I can see what I'm doing. On COD World at War, I remember that I played it before I had the progressive scan cables, and the draw distance was terrible. Finally, I don't see a need for the graphics to be higher on the next gen consoles. I think it will just cause legal issues down the road, because the graphics are "too real," and cause some dis-associative behavior. Or, I'm getting old.
From the presentations that I saw, it was as though the director of the whole shindig was rushing everyone through it, or something. Nothing seemed to be fleshed out the way it should have been. Not that everything lackluster was due to this feeling, but it did contribute, in my opinion.
Other than that, it took me a little while to have everything sink in that was missing. During it all, it was almost like being at a friend's birthday party. You're excited for them, and you're wrapped up in it, and you want your turn to play, but have to wait. Only afterwards did I notice the titles not mentioned, that were known. Namely, Animal Crossing.
Even with the re-releases of already existing titles, I was stoked that I'd be able to play them on a Nintendo platform. There were quite a few titles that I hadn't heard of yet, so I was happy to hear about them, or at least intrigued. I can't place it, but for some reason the new Scribblenauts did not look too good.
One thing that made up for everything, was the flood of information following the presentation. This brings it back to the rushed feeling. Only during one-on-one interviews were some tidbits of info being handed out. I was a little more glued to those than the presentation at times.
And just like emiru69, I've been playing Nintendo games and systems since NES days. Even Virtual Boy! So, I concur with most of everyone when they say that it's not that they are mad at Nintendo, but sad that more wasn't done.
I really hope there will be two controller tablets (or however they'll name it). I found it weird after everything was said and done last year, when EA mentioned playing Madden and picking a play on it so the other player can't see it, and then BAM!! Stories emerging saying that there's only support for one!?! It didn't seem to fit. Honestly, I'm expecting it to be two. The systems will most likely come with only one, but Nintendo will need to sell them separately eventually, so if something dire were to happen.
Nintendo has long-held the idea content > graphics. Molyneux needs to pay attention. And THEN, he throws out the only parts of gaming that are considered more casual. So, Nintendo needs to have a more powerful system, and cater to more casual gamers??
@6ch6ris6 I also remember that Red Steel utilized it in multiplayer. There was supposed to be a mode, using 4 players, where the speaker would tell one certain player who they were supposed to kill, or that they were it. I have the game, but I haven't been able to get 3 other people to play, so I'm going by what I read a long time ago.
@Retro_Hype That's because it was Eidos that made the first one. After that, they haven't had a hand in any of the other Lego games. I was able to tell a huge difference in quality between the two.

@3Dash Not to mention that the TVii function seems very killer!! Also, I have TiVo, so extra sweet for me!

Why the double post?

@rjejr I actually found it under the "Demos" menu, along with the Order Up demo.
Re: E3 2012: Meet The Wii U GamePad
Looks awesome! The only thing that wasn't mentioned that I wanted to know about was if there will be support for two GamePads. Hopefully Tuesday!

Well, if there's mentioning of Dreamcast games, I can't help but think of how awesome Armada would be on 3DS!!
