Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's 3DS Press Conference

@ JimLad, that is the most sensible comment I've read on the whole page, that, along with the fact that the 3ds had has no decent "new" games so far to draw people in. Sure we've had Ocarina of time and StarFox, which are great titles but they are still old games that we've seen before in some form or other. The success of the 3ds so far is a result of poor marketing and lack of any decent titles other than remakes. Also, that second analog stick should have been there from the start. Nintendo should have realised that before they released the device. I will buy the peripheral when it releases but begrudgingly so, as we all know they will re-design the machine eventually, with the second stick intergrated into it. I bet you won't get much for a trade in either when that time comes and it will cost a bomb to trade for the next device.

Looks like it could be a good purchase, I don't really care that it doesn't have an online feature. Online is cool but I don't really think it's a necessity on a handheld console. The whole point of a handheld is to be able to take it everywhere, including many places where there is no wi-fi spots (like the beach, bus etc...) so online is just a bonus for me but in no way affects my purchase decision.

Re: Fils-Aime: "3DS Didn't Launch Prematurely"

A console is only as strong as it's games, period. This is the reason that the 3ds hasn't sold as well. All but a few of the launch titles sucked. I must admit that GR shadow wars and Street fighter were great, although not enough to pull casual gamers as well as the hardcore gamers in. There sould be a significant increase in sales when the big name games are released. (absolutely can't put down Ocarina of time).

Re: Why the 3DS Will Not Use an Achievement System

Achievements are good in some games as they they help give some titles a longer lifespan but nintendo games are different. Being a long time fan of nintendo (all the way back to the NES) I have to admit that I'm glad they're not including achievements on the 3ds. Nintendo consoles and titles are all about the exploring. I'd hate for that to be spoilt by being told where to go just for some crappy points.

In my opinion he's not wrong. That's a good deal you guys have. It's europe that's getting a raw deal, as usual. It's going to cost £230 in England. If you convert that into dollars that's roughly $365! Out of curiosity, how may of you would be willing to pay $365 for one?
