Re: Random: Want To Play Smash Bros. Melee On The Train? Amtrak Is Fine With That

Nintendoes

I've travelled on their trains, you get 2 outlets to share between 2 seats and they are below the window so not too convenient for the aisle seat. My last train had no WiFi, if it does have it, it's spotty and the toilets are gross.

They're probably talking about the really small CRTs but Amtrak are behind the times like their trains, probably should have said LCD instead. Still it's better than travelling by road, they just need to seriously update the trains before they try any promotions.

Re: Best Tetris Games, Ranked - Switch And Nintendo Systems

Nintendoes

Poor, lazy summary of Tetris DX, it's not simply GB Tetris with 'hues', if you play them back to back you would find it more responsive with some nice flashy effects when you do well like getting a Tetris line clear I believe, it's been a while since I've played it.

Someone else has left a good detailed description, I would put it over GB Tetris at the expense of those classic tunes. Another says they prefer the original because of the screen distractions in DX which never affected me, each to their own, both are good and no reason not to try both. Better still is Tetris DS which I'm glad I still have, best of the three for me.

Re: Retro: Back In 1996, Nintendo 64 Was The Must-Have Christmas Gift - Alongside 'Tickle Me Elmo'

Nintendoes

I never got it on launch but I did end up getting the Goldeneye bundle with the gold controller, the Pikachu edition as well as one of the coloured see through ones.
Just goes to show scalping has always been a thing except it's so much easier nowadays.
Somehow this newest generation will hopefully be only one where over a year later they're still pretty much sold out due to a pandemic and scalpers.

Re: Random: Grandmother Accidentally Receives Six Nintendo Switch, So Target Gifted Them To Her

Nintendoes

I once made a big purchase of games, a decent Samsung tablet and other stuff only to receive a box full of some security cameras. I took it back whereby I explained what happened so I had to organize a resend of what I actually ordered.
Although I didn't get to keep those wrongly shipped items I imagine someone is else got a nice package and I have no idea if they also did the decent thing of returning it.

Re: Soapbox: We Need To Talk About The One Thing Nintendo Got Wrong With The Switch OLED

Nintendoes

That's Nintendo for you, there's always something, they changed everything else so why not change the flap to make it harder to open just because.
I've had a few different Switches but never had a problem with it but maybe others have so they decided on the change.
Maybe they'll change it again on the Switch Pro. More importantly they should have finally fixed stick drift but Nintendo doesn't care.

Re: Soapbox: Retro Nintendo Games Cost Too Much, But Nostalgia Is Expensive

Nintendoes

I've just read a quote on how something is exactly worth what someone is willing to pay for them. You could argue that's true if it's a rare item but also argue that it's not worth that high price so swings and roundabouts.

I mean just look at the crazy situation with scalpers on any new gaming product especially PS5 now, if people are happy/desperate to be ripped off then this practice will continue.

As for expensive retro Nintendo games, it's not just old games, even new or current gen Nintendo 1st party games are mostly never discounted, even a launch game like Zelda BOTW though to be fair Nintendo have only recently started doing some dicounts maybe due to the pandemic and people not being able to go out.

Re: Review: Redout: Space Assault - A Bargain-Bin Star Fox With Spectacular Visuals

Nintendoes

While reading the review I kept thinking it could so easily aply in a non sci-fi sense to Panzer Dragoon that I recently got on a deep discount.

A good looking on rail shooter but repetitive with not much depth. I don't think the reviewer mentioned how long the game lasts but it would almost certainly last longer than the few hours PD does I imagine.

Still I'm enjoying it as I'm playing it in short bursts and also cos I played it on Saturn, it's such a shame they didn't include PD2 as they're doing it separately. What would have been the ultimate bundle though would be to include PD Saga and the Xbox PD.

Re: Japanese Charts: Nintendo Switch Ends 2020 In Spectacular Fashion

Nintendoes

The Switch is killing it in Japan, who would have thought 2 models of PS5 cannot outsell even PS4 slim while the PS4 Pro is really selling badly sandwiched between the new Xboxes?

It just goes to show Japan love their mobile gaming and don't have a desperate need to rush out and buy the latest, most powerful systems. Even the Switch lite itself has outsold PS5 by almost 6 times.

Unlike the crazy scalping PS5 mad West it must be so easy and chill to grab a PS5 anytime you want over there and they probably don't have to deal with scalper bots or package thieves.

Re: Soapbox: Since When Did Physical Releases Stop Being About Physical Games?

Nintendoes

Since Nintendo/game publishers started the practice of selling download codes in a physical box. I know the article was more of a comment on all these overpriced, limited run physical collectors sets full of useless tatt but Nintendo Switch has a lot to blame.
By way of overpriced game cards, Nintendo has forced most publishers to only release half a game or in cases where it's supposed to be a collection there's only one game on the card.
Obviously everybody involved is more concerned about making/saving money than the fact that once that format eshop inevitably closes that 'owners' will no longer be able to download the games.
Then again we also have the fact that nowadays almost every game requires a day one patch and subsequent patches. It makes me seriously consider only buying retro from the PS3 generation and before when at least you owned the whole game which you could just pop in and play.

Re: Nintendo Appears To Be Pulling DSiWare Games From The 3DS eShop

Nintendoes

It's just a matter of time before the only eshop around will be on Switch so all those digital games on older systems will no longer exist unless you get them while you can.

You can actually get that delisted Shantae on Switch now which is also a director's cut too. All the Shantae games are now available on Switch except the original, now is probably a good time to snap it up on the 3ds before that too is removed if only for completion sake and to see where it all started as physical nowadays are probably hard to find or way too expensive.

Re: Random: Turns Out Nintendo Might Be Right, You Can Have Too Much Super Mario Bros.

Nintendoes

For Nintendo there's no such thing as too many ports of SMB and it will continue to pop up on any gaming device and the general public/scalpers will lap them all up.
Hence a game & watch anniversary only gets 1 proper G&W game when they could have filled it up with every G&W ever made. Then they decide to put 2 NES SMB games on it which are not G&W games, if you wanted to celebrate Mario 35th then at least put all 3 NES games on it. Overpriced and underthought but then again not the stupity of the Sega micro Game Gears, it's no wonder Sega stopped making hardware.

Re: 30 Years After Nintendo's "Operation Midnight Shipping" And Console Launches Are Still Fraught With Danger

Nintendoes

Lessons are don't order expensive items from Amazon and just be patient and wait until you can walk in and buy. Kind of makes you wish for the good old days/ways of getting a new product. Have any people who have experienced this managed to get a refund or replacement? Also why has this not happened with the new xboxes as no mention has been made of this?

Re: Super Mario 3D All-Stars Sold 5.21 Million Copies In Just 12 Days

Nintendoes

I got it day 1 expecting at least some early demand due to the limited sale period but all this fuss is overblown. Nintendo absolutely flooded the stores with copies, most stores still have plenty of stock, I thought Walmart had a lot until I saw the overstock cart in Best Buy, they still have loads LOL!
Really if anyone misses out on getting a physical copy they only have themselves to blame. I definitely wouldn't have got it so early if not for the time limit, in fact I even exchanged my unopened new copy for a used one to save a bit of cash but only briefly played galaxy, saving it for later play.

Re: Soapbox: An Ode To The 3DS, Nintendo's Workhorse Console

Nintendoes

I have the same experience, 3DS was my first midnight launch and I also picked the aqua blue. Great handheld memories, it served me well on many long train journeys.
I've also had a N3DSXL and N2DS but thinned the herd to my still working 3DS and N3DS. The biggest mistake Nintendo made was making a handheld region locked which just defies logic. Other niggles were short battery life and you could not have an account on 2 different systems even though they made like 6 different versions.

Re: Feature: All Hail The Game Boy Micro, The Sexiest And Most Impractical Game Boy Ever

Nintendoes

That photo just reminded me how much it looks like the new game & watch. I had this exact Famicom edition myself but sold regrettably as they're worth a few now.
A real thing of beauty, I never really played any long sessions so I didn't get any discomfort. But if something this small can cause hand cramps how will they be able to play those tiny Game Gears? Sega will never learn
