@HeadPirate I thought the same thing when I first watched the trailer. It has to be a reference to Rainbow Road Mario Kart 64. The jump the separated the men from the boys
@Vexx234 I personally believe you are underestimating the times. Disney (and strictly talking about animated films) is a powerhouse and always will be. Their classics like Lion King and Aladdin and the rest will stand the rest of time. What I am referring to is the present day and time. Disney and their sister company Pixar have released flops like Light-Year and Strange New Worlds. Their quality of film making has gone down hill dramatically to the point where Bob Iger, CEO of Disney has made many public statements on how Disney Animation needs to get back on track. In the meantime Illumination has quietly built up a catalog of movies that have characters the mainstream population enjoy. I mentioned it earlier and it is a fact that amongst today's youth Minions are more recognized than Mickey Mouse. What we are seeing is a transition like that of when Apple became more popular than Microsoft. Nobody thought that was possible back in the day. Similar to streaming services crippling Blockbuster and putting them out of business. So the fact that "Netflix is their biggest accomplishment" is actually a massive deal. That is where today is. We are not living in the past. Today's generation prefers Illumination over Disney and that's monumental. Whether you like their movies or not they are clearly do something right and have staying power for the foreseeable future. Rest assured Illumination and Nintendo worked on this Movie for 6 years. They will not fail us. It will be epic and glorious and cement Illumination's legacy
@Deemo37 yeah just reread my message and now I feel I came across a bit aggressive. I want to apologize to @gamergirl94. I am just shocked at the dislike for Illumination. I am from the States and I never thought any studio could overthrow Disney and Illumination has done just that. It's an ongoing topic over here.
@Gamergirl94 Illumination movies are just average!? Are you living under a rock? Minions are now more recognizable than Mickey Mouse amongst the youth. They are mainstream in social media memes and let's not forget that Sing 2 has absolutely slaughtered the all time record for a movie in the Netflix top ten for the most consecutive days. No movie will ever be able to beat it. Illumination has a huge presence in Disneyland's rival theme park Universal Studios with Rides featuring Minions and Secret Life of Pets and they are now the studio behind arguably the greatest video game presence of all time. Super Mario!! Let's a go, this film will be one of the all time greats
