If Nintendo designed the games so that people who pay have an unfair advantage over others who don't, that would be something that I consider "unwholesome". Nintendo doesn't pander to the e-peen crowd, they pride themselves on creating fun experiences. From what I see here, these new games are just paid expansions. I still haven't finished the original quests, but once I do, it might be something to consider.
