I think nintendo's real competition comes from the apple/android segment rather than ps4/xbox home console market!, nintendo could've posed real threat to apple's dominance on mobile market by just capitilizing on the same type of light gaming experience available on mobile platforms plus reinforcing it with their own game library, they would acheive more success by doing so, many people would jump on the switch wagon, especially younger generation to get a piece of the action but in order to pull that off they also need to make their device convenient for everyday use by making it an awesome device for multimedia consumption, nintendo are wasting a huge opportunity here to go head-to-head against the top dog rather than competing in what seems to be an exhausted home console market where graphics, big budget games seem to be the order of the day, IMO it's a losing battle against Sony.
Nintendo should find their own niche, mobile gaming is what they do so well, they should stick to that and make a platform that people of all ages can jump in and use not only for their gaming needs but also for their multimedia consumption as well..

Exactly!, to make matters worse nvidia just launched a slimmer nvidia shield tv which has the exact same chip the switch has and comes with a controller and a remote for 200 dollars!!!, go figure...
@3MonthBeef This is exactly the point I'm trying to make!, that would have been with me had Nintendo launched with more first and third party titles so we would have known that their focus is on games rather than media consumption features but with that slim and average launch lineup and games that have been announced so far this whole "gaming dedicated system" has fell flat as they basically have nothing to show for!..
Mario Odyssey is the only game I'm excited about so far and we'll have to wait atleast 8 or 9 months before it comes out!. I think this is one of the worst planned game console launches ever especially coming from Nintendo a company that is in charge of both software and hardware.

The sheeple are those who believe anything companies/marketing firms tell them and this is basically what you're doing here. You believe that Nintendo are throwing away all those features that have been available on their past home consoles and handhelds because they want to make a gaming dedicated system even though it will only have 4 games at launch of which only one is considered a hardcore game that will also be available on a 4 year old system, and if you look at the games announced for the switch in the following months most of them are either remasters or rereleases of older games rather than brand new titles!. Stop parroting what Nintendo are saying!. The reason they're not including these vital apps is because they don't want to invest money to develop these apps for the switch and to stop people from hacking it rather than trying to make the software more secure and usable!. A gaming tablet released in 2017 doesn't have a browser, youtube, Facebook etc when the wii, an underpowered home console released back in 2006 which was supposed to be used by grandma had those features!!!, can't you see the ridiculousness of that statement?

No one is against the switch, i really want it to succeed but it seems that nintendo deliberately want to destroy it's chances before it even launches!!, they could've made the greatest launch ever had they launched with slightly better price, had a mario game for launch, i don't get that, nintendo are in charge of both software and hardware they could've easily done that, and in the following months maybe release HD remasters of their past system, like super mario galaxy HD collection, Metroid HD collection, Zelda HD collection and so on...it's just frustrating..
So basically Nintendo believe that their fans will buy anything from them!. It doesn't need to have a browser, youtube, facebook,twitch, twitter or any of that because it's a "gaming dedicated system" even though it's only launching with 4 games!, one of whom is a shallow tech demo that should've been bundled with the system and only one awsome game worth getting that is also going to be released on a 4 year old system simultaneously!!, unbelievable..
I should say that i'm a huge fan of their games though but this is just too much, the reason the switch is not launching with a browser or even with Android(when it really should!!) is not because the switch is a gaming dedicated system as they claim, it's basically because they want to prevent people from hacking their system which is completely absurd because hackers want to hack everything!!, they did that with Sony and Microsoft but these companies were always ahead of hackers and were fast to patch their software, Nintendo on the other hand are basically just take away features and punish their customers instead of improving their software and making it more usable!!, what's the use of having a huge touch screen if the device itself cannot be used as multimedia device!!!...
Despite all that i still believe the Switch will do better than the Wii U, first of all the hardware itself is cool despite the relatively high price, a huge number of gamers will eventually buy the system(when prices drop) to get their nintendo fix, since the switch is going to be the only nintendo platform available with the 3DS phasing out..
It's still too bad though, Nintendo are half-arsing this awsome hardware and shooting themselves in the foot with these stupid lazy decisions!, it's been said the japanese can be very stubborn and no more has this been demonstrated than by Nintendo in recent years, a compnay that is being run by old dinosaurs who have lost touch with reality, their only concern now is milking their fans and customers, the're living in their own bubble, they still think we're living in the mid 90s ...
