Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Version 2.0.1 Is Now Live On Switch 2, Here's What's Included

@Yosher I think you are seeing this in the comments, but a lot of us were like, "meh, I'm not sure I could like this" when we started, and then it clicked, and every stage and encouter became a joy. I got week one and although I only play a little each day I've not run out of things I want to do or can do.

My advice? Play story primarilly for a bit, and then go back to earlier stages to collect and work through them. Then story again, and repeat. I found it kept the experience fun, going back meant revisiting stages and so they felt fresh, etc.

I will say nothing but good things about DK Bananza.

@COVIDberry the stamp culture could be affecting. But my workings with Japanese clients have never had issues. Some of my favourites to work with.

I have had no issues syncing with people when blocked. One of the unique things right now is that since EVERYONE is remote, everyone is in the same boat, so hitting up someone in chat, or email, or firing up a zoom to work through things is pretty standard for everyone. Before when working from home, the problem was being the only one working from home. That kept you removed. But everyone working from home means more connected.

I don’t have kids but lots of my colleagues do. Note the productivity I speak of isn’t just me. We track work through “tickets”. We’ve seen a steady increase in number of tickets closed per week per person (and growing) since mass work from home started. That’s how we can see productivity has increased.

@Snakesglowcaps wait what? No, it’s actually quite true that software dev has become more productive (in many companies, including Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc).

There’s a lot of studies on it. The main reasons include fewer “work distractions”, but the main reason the studies are pointing to is that people are ending up working longer hours since the work is “just there”. There’s no physical separation between work and personal life that there once was.

Hardware is a different story (until techs could get into their labs it was slowed down) but software has definitely seen an uptick in productivity in the mass work from home situation.

Software developer here: work from home during the pandemic actually has caused SPIKES and INCREASES in productivity. It seems pretty consistent in the software dev community. While it may not be sustainable, it’s what we have consistently seen since wfh started in March everywhere.

So before you give excuses about the pandemic, note that the actual dev stuff has become more productive, not less, during this pandemic.
