Re: Skater XL Finally Sticks A Switch Release Date

Chojimaroji

Not sure what some of yall are smokin. I just watched a bunch of clips of PS2 era skate games to check my nostalgia goggles. Had so much fun playing those games but they look bad. I have to agree that the music for this trailer was an odd choice, otherwise this looks great. This game has great lighting, skyscrapers, realistic stair sets, sprites with more than six polygons, trees that don’t look like toddlers’ drawings and more.
The fact that the devs took three years to get the switch version right, tells me they care about their product. Looking forward to seeing how this game reviews when it launches.

Re: Nintendo Records Biggest Q1+2 Sales Figures Since Switch Launch

Chojimaroji

Nintendo is going to milk the Switch for all they can get. I for one am all for it and I hope this is their best FY ever. Sure you can play more graphically intense games on something like a steamdeck, but only for a half-hour until the battery dies. Nintendo stated five years in that the Switch was half way through it’s life cycle. With incredible sales holding strong what reason do they have to launch their next system. It’s not Nintendo’s style to support their systems for years after the next thing launches. One thing they are known for is taking their sweet time. I look forward to two or three more years of Switch2 hype before we actually see something.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy A Digital-Only 'Switch 2'?

Chojimaroji

As someone who owns nearly one hundred Super Nintendo cartridges, I get the mind set of the physical collector. However, my switch collection is 99.98% digital. Cartridges are not what they once were. They are incomplete, basically every game requires an immediate download and update. My Super Nintendo cartridges all work offline 30 years running. I’m not sure modern cartridges will boast the same longevity, especially considering issues with memories becoming corrupted.
I love the new games I’ve experienced in digital form just as much or more than carted games of yesteryear. I certainly hope I’ll be able to play them many years from now. We’ve seen digital services being shutdown every couple months. This is the primary issue with digital purchases. Just how long do the big guys owe us the service for which we’ve paid? I personally feel like the current model for eshop life spans is criminally short.
Despite inevitable shutdowns, the benefits of my all digital switch library outweigh those of physical. They don’t take up any space, I never have to dust them off, they don’t smell and I love having a couple hundred games in my menu ready to load with the press of an ‘a’. Am I worried my games will be taken away? Maybe a bit. Then I remember that a good portion of collectors are playing emulated ROMs.

Re: Soapbox: TOTK's Ganondorf Is Great, But Zelda Needs To Do More With Its Villain

Chojimaroji

As much fun as I’ve had playing TOTK, I feel BOTW is actually the better game. It’s a much more distilled experience and the tension is palpable. Link’s journey to get stronger is driven by the need to confront the ever looming threat of Ganon before it goes boom. I did really love all the memories/stories in both though.
I don’t let Ganondorf’s absence in TOTK bug me to much, I just assume he needs to sleep in boxes of dirt or something. It must take a while to rehydrate that much!

Re: Nintendo's Next Switch Online Game Trial Is Now Live (North America)

Chojimaroji

Eastward will go down as one of the best games on the switch, period. Criticizing the game for having too much dialogue is ridiculous. It’s like saying that Earth Bound is a good RPG but it’s too weird. Eastwards story is amazing and the action adventure mechanics are balanced nicely within the plot. Seriously, don’t sleep on this game trial. This is an absolute jem of a game!

Re: Switch Online N64 Controllers Have Been Restocked In North America

Chojimaroji

I recently got my 8bitdo mod kit for one of my old controllers. I had to wait for a shipping date but it did eventually get here. I took the time to wash all the parts of the controller before putting the new board in and it looks great! The fact that you can pick any color controller is bonus. The controller works perfectly with NSO. However the HAL stick does not feel or respond anything like the original. If you happen to have a perfect N64 stick, you don’t have to use the HAL. The kit really is a great alternative to Nintendo’s official controller.
