@SouthpawGrammar Thank you! But personally for me 6 is not fair. Other indie games got 7 ratings here that neither show more love, length, a higher production value in my eyes. We probably got bad luck with the one who reviewed this not being our core SNES 16-bit audience (we got 8s and 9s as well on other outlets), but considering that a 6 can be a "make it or break it" criteria for a small indie studio like us I was really hoping for a better score.
@emeyece - We have 3 difficulty settings and not even "hard" comes close to Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts or ActRaiser 2 on "normal" on the SNES. Yes, FOX n FORESTS is a bit edgy, on purposes, as we wanted to capture the look and feel of SNES games that did not guide the player that much - and thus finding our stuff yourself becomes even more rewarding in our view If you are into SNES, do give FnF a try, you will not be disappointed as many 9s and 8s ratings show.
This is very sad for us to see, as FOX n FORESTS also got some 9/10 and 8/10 ratings. I agree that the game might be a a but too edgy for some, but if you are a true SNES fan or Retro gamer, please give this one a try!
@KryptoKrunch Thanks for not forgetting about Rick the Fox Yes, FOX n FORESTS will be out on May 17th! The coming soon page on the Nintendo e-shop should also be online soon. Looking forward to the reception of our 16-bit style title!
@Eef There are no plans for a physical release. Many people are asking but we are a small team and for a physical release the digital sales would need to be very, very solid. And "limited" etc. physical releases are also not everyone's cup of tea.
@Rhaoulos Hmm... It is a good game We went for the SNES look and feel as we are big fans of it and love the old classics. But we did put a lot of our own ideas and fresh elements into the title, such as the seamless season switch mechanic.
@KIRO True that, we planned an asynchronous multiplayer mode but - I am sure you have guessed it - ran out of time. However, couch co-op is something we would love to do in the future...
@RagManX No worries, we have easy, normal and hard as difficulty settings. Easy is very forgiving! Hard on the other hand... my team blames me for making hard too hard *lol
@RagManX Fair enough, this is why we made sure that you will earn enough gold from checkpoint to checkpoint to support "Retro the Badger" expand his collection of retro games
@Abes3 - Thank you! All together it was 3 years of blood, sweat and tears, really hope it will pay off and Bonus Level can make some more 16-Bit style games
@emeyece - No need to worry, we have 3 difficulty settings. The game on "normal" is a fun challenge, but we did not go for the ultra-hard route like some other games. However, unlocking every last bit is not that easy in any mode, but more because of "hidden secrets" than of difficulty.
Hi Everyone, this is Bonus Level, the developer of FOX n FORESTS. Thank you so much for all the great comments! We worked very hard for the last years (we started to prepare the Kickstarter campaign back in 2015) and are more than happy to see most people seem to like our approach so far Thank you for your support! Re: Feature: Brushing Up On Fox N Forests With Developer Bonus Level
Hi, here is Rupert once gain. Thank you for all the positive comments, they really mean a lot to us!
@price-point:
The planned price is 19,99 USD/EUR.
@Abes3:
Shovel Knight and its success was a big inspiration for us.
@ogo79:
My shame: Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Killer Instinct and ClayFighter (for its creativity and the stop motion aspect).
