Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel: Panic Bomber (Virtual Boy)

Gonna have to go with Japan. It is busier, but the background is more sweeping (look at that moon!). I also like the character variety. Some props to the NA box art for having some decent color as well.

Gonna go with Japan this time. I really don't like the borders in the NA Virtual Boy box arts.

If we were discussing the cartridge art and manual art, it would be a no contest. Japan would sweep the floor with NA. To my knowledge only Jack Bros. and Waterworld are the only NA games with cartridge art (not sure about their manuals). The rest have only the logo and the same borders in the box art as background.

Definitely Japan, background is way better. It also managed to fit in two other characters and the virtual boy logo isn't large.

I much prefer the composition and posing of the NA one. It’s busy without being too busy like the JP one, and the alternate artwork feels more Western without being NES Mega Man levels of “more Western,” which I think is cool. I also really like how the bomb Bomberman is holding is also apart of the logo.

WHAT? Bomberman have a game on Virtual Boy? anyway, american box art is bette, japan box art is too busy/crowded.

Gonna go with Japan. Yes, there's more going on, but it also makes better use of real estate so it still doesn't feel too busy, you can see the full scale of the castle, etc. The bubblegum colored logo may not quite gel with the rest of the art, but it's placed in a way as to not be intrusive while still being noticeable.

The US box on the other hand removes some elements & squishes others just so it can add some unnecessary borders & needlessly large & intrusive titles/logos.

The composition of the NA artwork kind of sucks, but as a whole, I prefer the uniformity that the borders on Western covers tend to bring, so, I'm defaulting to that.

Plus, I don't like how generic the Japanese text looks either.

Yeah, you never saw AVGN review this one when he reviewed the Virtual Boy. As it is, he had to release an updated version of that episode when he got his hands on Jack Bros. Methinks if he ever gets his hands on this one, he may have to update that episode yet again.

The logo and the general layout of the American cover are kinda blah but the action between the characters is just way more compelling than the movie poster layout of the Japanese

The Japanese cover is so pretty.

They're kinda the same, the U.S. cover just seems like a zoomed in version of the Japanese cover with some of the characters moved around.

Japan's kind of feels like a Bomberman parody of Castlevania inspired by Megaman covers.

Gotta go with the Japanese cover because of disco vampire Bomberman.

These are both pretty bad, the art design on these are just not good at all. I guess I'll go with NA

Regarding last week, "...but what do we know?". Indeed!

I voted Japan. I kind of like the art for both of these, but the NA version is crushed by the logos. The giant Virtual Boy logo ruins any chance it had to compete. Nintendo of America went crazy in those days with logos, borders, and side bars on their boxes.

I always come in for the loser.

Both are really good this week. I went with Japan because it doesn't have borders

I think Japan wins here. America isn't bad, but it feels like some spots have odd vacant spaces. Japan feels like it has better composition when it comes to the place of the characters
