Nintendo Minute Videos Are Being Set To Private On Nintendo's YouTube Channel

Good riddance

I know these videos have been archived and all, but…seriously? What does Nintendo stand to gain from this?

In all honesty, it's not that big of a loss.

Never liked those videos. The hosts are like morning talk show hosts, irritatingly happy and forced too much enthusiasm.

It's probably for legal reason, they don't work for Nintendo anymore so it's pointless for Nintendo to continue promoting them. Just think if they started working for another company and that company saw them with their videos still up and running on Nintendo's channel, that company may think they still making money for Nintendo while working under them thus likely sue them for double dealing and unfair competition. It's similar to other media industry such as pro wrestling, if guys like Hulk Hogan left WWF for WCW, then WWF can't promote Hulk Hogan in the company anymore and tape footage of him will not be shown (unless he return and under contract again).

If anyone honestly thinks this will damper access, they would be wrong. The moment they stopped, you know some fan downloaded the whole damn catalogue.

Nothing against them, they seem nice enough but I can't say I enjoyed that show in the slightest and maybe someone at Nintendo realized how bad it was. Nintendo Show 3D was way better.

I’m sure someone archived all these nintendo videos and will reupload it, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Not great to see, but their current show is way better because have complete editorial freedom to be themselves now.

Pretty sure not many people watched them anyway, and that most of the views came from miss clicks or auto play.

I think the videos are on the news section of the switch home menu, so maybe you could still watch it through there.

Wow, great rationalization from the comments here. "Good riddance" "Nothing of value was lost". Jesus Christ, you people come off as so petty. I didn't watch the videos but it's pretty forced to take them all down like that. It's like when there were articles about Reggie Fils-Aime's book being published on this site; lots of "Who cares" and "Good riddance" comments as if you people weren't sharing the gif of the train in space with Reggie's face on it every time there was a Nintendo Direct announcement.

I hope this is the last we hear of Nintendo Minute and those two. Please just let me have this one thing.

@Pikaboom Maybe there could be some truth to Kit/Krysta, or even both, it’s just that people like to start rumors over nothing oftentimes.

Seems like not a huge deal. These were ads for Nintendo products that, in many cases, don't exist anymore. Nintendo loves controlling their image (obv), Kit and Krista aren't part of that anymore, so...yeah.

Wow, so many people being toxic towards these two. You can just, you know, not watch them. There's people who genuinely enjoyed watching them, you know. Don't have to be rude about it.

And how they act off camera is pure speculation, we simply don't know the truth on this front. Don't believe everything you hear/read unless there's proof. (Yes that includes what K&K say too regarding what it's like to work within Nintendo.)

Did anyone actually care enough to rewatch all of these. Nintendo owns the videos, they can do whatever they want with them.

That's unfortunate, especially for everyone who featured on the videos over the years.

I always enjoyed watching Nintendo Minute. Kit and Krysta have a fun chemistry that shined through then, and even moreso on their new channel

The people leaving "good riddance" posts are clearly just upset that it was never a minute

Not sad to see those videos disappear. They were fun for their time, but I'd have zero reason to rewatch them again. Some were really boring too. Also, since these two left NOA, they've been kind of jackasses to say the least. Talking out of both sides of their mouths as if they still know what their former company is doing at the moment. Truthfully, Nintendo should have delisted these videos sooner rather than give these two publicity hounds free advertising.

We used to watch these videos on a very old iPad while eating breakfast. All the family and myself too really like them. They are not worse than NL videos.

So I don’t understand the toxicity on these comments. Why even come here to comment if you didn’t watch these videos in the first place? Really, what’s the point? You clearly don’t like Kit and Krista, that’s cool, but you don’t have to be so toxic about it all the time. It’s “me, me, me!” generation, I get it, but still.

I really think it was an error to have Nintendo impersonated on people. I prefer the Mario & Peach videos, and I think it's a better idea. Even Anna from the 3ds was good, even it was humanised.

They need their own VTuber I guess.

Generally speaking, your current contractual status with a company has no bearing on their ability to continue using footage produced while you were actively contracted with them.

Ex: WWE is actively streaming thousands upon thousands of hours of archival footage featuring wrestlers that are not under a current WWE contract a number of which are actively contracted elsewhere.

@JJtheTexan Yeah, that's the first thing that came to my mind aswell. They have been throwing a lot of shade towards Nintendo (no doubt in order to boost their own success) since they worked on their own channel. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo did that in order to cut ties with those two.

If someone reuploads the videos on YouTube, you can be certain Nintendo will strike them down.
They'll have to upload them on some server on the internet.

I never watched these two if I'm honest but still, why make them private? It would be great to hear the actual reason instead of the usual internet drivel of Nintendo not caring or being babies etc.

Gary&Alison were so much more genuinely entertaining and original. And it wasn't even close tbh.

Probably cause they decided to air all their dirty laundry and make up some apparently untrue stories after leaving. Nintendo won't want to promote people who are dragging their name through the mud.

They are gaining too much traction and Nintendo is probably cautious (with good reason) on what they are going to do/say next. We've seen so many Nintendo youtube ambassadors say the exact same lines on what it's like working with Nintendo, and its always like walking on eggshells in terms of what content you can make and what you can say about their games.
Only difference is is that that these guys were part of the face of Nintendo for a while.

Nintendo is cleaning up old stuff, not just kit and Krista but also some wiiU games etc.. I guess they found that there new stuff sometimes got hidden by old stuff by the YouTube algorithm... has nothing to do with k&k.. good if the article would have reflected that nuance

I loved Kit And Krista, I loved all the videos I watched from them, they made me laugh and they’ll be missed

That's a shame, my son used to like re-watching them, hopefully it might send people over to their new content which is actually really good

Unlike quite a few people now days sound very negative honestly Especially some comments what’s with that miserable attitudes 🤔🤪🤨

As an active listener to their podcast, I think I can definitely see why Nintendo is starting to hide the content. Recent episodes of the podcast did start revealing a lot more semi-confidential info about the company and the two weren't afraid of voicing their opinions over the restrictions they've had while working at Nintendo. They also made it pretty apparent that Nintendo of America started changing after Reggie left, and how the division was moving away from a more public image. This would be why we rarely see Doug Bowser now.

I'm not too concerned, because these two have hinted at holding an archive of all these episodes and I'm sure there are people out there who have downloaded these videos already.

I am quite annoyed by the negativity here, though. Please give the podcast a listen before you start making comments about scripted videos.

Nintendo found out that people started watching their independent channel after watching the Nintendo Minute videos. For me, it’s a win for 2 people we barely cared about against an often arrogant company.

I'm sure a thousand people have archived these but why? What does Nintendo gain from this?

Or YouTubers you may not follow in general? Seems like some are still stuck in the Gamergate era or something.

Just as there are as many YouTube channels, there are as many different Nintendo focused YouTubers catering to different segments of the gaming community. Just because some didn’t resonate with you does not mean they didn’t with others. There are definitely some YouTubers I never got the appeal of with huge followings, and there are those I have been a loyal fan since I first came across of them even if they have only thousands of followers.

We are all speculating here why Nintendo decided to shelf some of the Nintendo Minute videos. Who knows? It could purely be about how the company didn’t like something an interviewee said, or a game they want to erase from public consciousness.

Trashing anyone just cause only shows who you really are.

I don't like this idea. They had to do these videos and I know that people liked them, even though I wasn't what you would call a fan. It brings views in to the channel. It advertises the games you could say etc. It might be a licensing issue. I haven't looked too into the article so sorry if I missed something. Actually after hearing what @romanista said, I guess they might just be deleting stuff.

It's a boring business decision.
They've been criticizing Nintendo publically in their new content, and Nintendo doing what Nintendo does, deletes old PR that can be associated with critique from their new persona-driven content.

It's a lame and very corporate decision.

I liked both Nintendo Week, and Minute. I enjoyed both, because I always watched with the knowledge the cast members were (playing) characters promoting Nintendo. Also, Alison, and Krysta are beautiful; very easy on the eyes. I'm sure, like many in these comments, that Nintendo Week, and Minute have been archived by various fans.

I caught a few mins of some of their episodes back then, it's not for me, I'm not their audience. What did I do? I just moved on and went about my business.

I never watched so I don't have an opinion.
But what I don't get is why people would be so happy to see something they could just... not watch... be deleted.

But from what other comments have told me about the situation... it sounds like that's just a sort of thing that happens when the host is a company worried most about the profitability of its content.
Remembering how that one guy told secrets and Nintendo fired him and then delayed Star Fox Zero for half a year so they could delete his voice from the game.

Bummer aside, I really like how Kit & Krysta have their own channel and are free to share their own stuff! Also, revealing secrets about Nintendo and providing their own criticism of the company shows that they're no longer tethered to them anymore and aren't afraid to talk smack about them because they know that Nintendo can do nothing about it and I love it!

One sure thing about the Internet, if only one person can see it, pretty soon everyone will.

I didn't watch the show too much, but this is a really crummy thing to do without warning. Hopefully someone out there bothered to download and preserve all the episodes. There is an episode where they interview developers from Digital Eclipse, Frank Cifaldi and Chris Kohler included, on putting together the MegaMan legacy collection for the Nintendo 3DS. That was the only place you could watch that interview; other than, ironically, the Nintendo 3ds eshop page for said game, which is sitting down in a few weeks. No doubt there is other variable content that has been lost on Nintendo minute.
