Update [Thu 20th Oct, 2022 05:00 BST]: Simon Belmont and Alucard from the Castlevania series have officially joined Brawlhalla today. This includes the new map Dracula's Castle and an inverted version of the same level.
Original story [Sun 11th Sep, 2022 02:30 BST]: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate might have wrapped up its development cycle, but there are still a number of other brawlers on the Nintendo Switch receiving regular updates. One of them happens to be the Ubisoft title Brawlhalla.
So far we've seen characters like Rayman, Ryu from Street Fighter and Lara Croft from Tomb Raider join the battle, and now it's time for Simon Belmont and Alucard from Konami's Castlevania series to step up. Both of these characters will be playable from October 19th.
Surprisingly, this isn't Simon Belmont's first fighter. He's been in quite a few including the Smash series. Brawlhalla is out now on the Nintendo Switch and is a free download via the eShop. What do you think of the latest fighters for Brawlhalla? Leave a comment below.

Simon was also playable years ago on DreamMix TV World Fighters on the Gamecube and PS2, which included Twinbee, Optimus Prime and Master Higgins from Adventure Island.
@BrazillianCara He's also available as a fighter in his own fighting game, Castlevania Judgment for the Wii.
@BrazillianCara Really hope they revisit the idea one day. After all, they'd only need to negotiate with Takara Tomy since Konami already owns Hudson Soft.
It would be amazing if there was another Castlevania fighting game that wasn't such a bizarre mess like Castlevania Judgment was.
...if you're gonna have an all-star cast of popular characters from across a huge legacy series like Castlevania, maybe the first step would be to... y'know, make sure each character is actually recognisable? And not alter every single character design to the point where they don't even slightly resemble who they're supposed to represent...?
Wait, is Brawhalla still a thing?
I've been thinking about grabbing Brawlhalla for a while now, what with it's absurdly large roster, interesting mechanics for a platform fighter and the fact that it's literally free. So to anyone who's played it, I must ask: are the single player offerings at least good? As long as that's the case, I'd be more than willing to give it a go (I've only played through the arcade modes of each of the characters in Street Fighter Alpha 2 and that's still one of my favourite games ever made so even if it's just that, I'll be satisfied).
@Fizza I play it a lot and I really like it. The servers are still plenty populated, it barely takes any time to get in to a match. I also prefer the platform fighting mechanics to smash. Give it a try, you won't regret it!
@Fizza Just as a heads up the roster is mostly made up of weapon types with a skin over it. I think its somewhere around 50 combinations. But say for example shovel knight doesn't have a completely unique move set to one of the GI Joe skins.
I wonder if there were any legal delays, due to Simon, Richter, and Castlevania elements being in Smash.
Ah yes, the two that should’ve been playable in smash. I don’t like this game that much but at least they’re doing it right. I think people know who Simon and alucard are vs Simon and richter. They added the latter as full characters because it took less work to implement. Still salty about not being able to play as alucard. Every time I see his assist trophy I’m still disappointed.
Is simons whip a sword or something? Or are they adding a new weapon type?
@Ocaz The reason Alucard didn't get implemented as a full fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate besides the Belmonts was because of the too many sword fighters argument. You add him then you get angry fans complaining about "yet another sword fighter." Also I think Simon and Richter both are perfect fit for Smash anyways due to their unique weapon (the whip) since no other fighter had a similar weapon, the western crowd knew who Simon is (thanks to Castlevania 1, 2, & 4) and the Japanese crowd knew who Richter is (thanks to Rondo of Blood and Dracula X). Alucard will probably play similar to the Fire Emblem characters anyways, either that or a clone of Sephiroth but with a shorter sword.
@Serpenterror I disagree, I believe he would share the philosophy of Steve where the sword is an option but not the main criteria of his combat.
When I read Konami and Castlevania in the title… I was like hell yeah! Then I read the rest and my hopes swindled away.
Yes the servers are populated with the players that don’t have access to Smash. 😂
