If you're eager for a Zelda-like fix while you wait for the new game in the series to arrive, one game you might want to check out is Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm.
It started out as an Apple Arcade exclusive and was eventually released on the Switch eShop in October 2020. Now, in the latest development, physical distributor Limited Run Games has announced it'll be releasing a hard copy of the game.
Pre-orders will open on 27th September. A standard copy will set you back $39.99 USD and the "fan bundle" is priced at $74.99 USD. This fancier bundle will include both the first game (Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas) and the second game, as well as a slipcase. You'll also be able to purchase the slipcase separately for $9.99 USD.

Oceanhorn 2 is described as an "epic" RPG, with 20+ hours of gameplay, massive boss fights, dozens of side quests, and clever puzzles topped off with "beautiful, handcrafted" graphics (via Nintendo.com). You can learn more in our Nintendo Life review.

How did this game turn out? I remember I was quite interested before it released, but I forgot about it lol
Is it worth it?
@the_beaver The fact you forgot about it and only now remember it exists is all that you really need to know. It's not good or bad enough to be memorable, it's just there.
Why is there no standard release of the first game LRG? What if we don't like the second game?
It's good. It's certainly a Zelda clone, but a really well done one. If you liked Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess in particular, you'll like this
It's also incredibly impressive in scope for a dev team of like 7 people
Yesss!! Every time the opportunity presented itself, I tweeted at Super Rare to give it a release, but Limited Run will do.
Why of all things are they advertising the map on the inside of the box? Are they so bereft of selling points they have to advertise that?
@Serpenterror - they’ve already released Oceanhorn a couple years ago.
@Dragmire Doesn't hurt to re-release it again.
The first game was far superior. I found this one clunky and boring
@the_beaver I played the first game and thought it was a commendable first effort, but I was hoping a sequel would become more its own thing than a Zelda clone. Then I started playing part 2 and quit after about 3 hours because it was even more derivative than the first game.
Why would they copy things so blatantly and then add the BotW outfit to top it all off? It didn’t inspire me to keep playing. This studio should really start putting their obvious talent to better use.
Switch exclusive since 2020? Why did the previous game release on all major consoles then? Wondered why I couldn't play the sequel when it was a big deal
Games like this happen when you have programming skills and financial resources but no creativity nor imagination.
For anyone on the fence about buying this... please allow me to try and steer you away from your prospective purchase!!!
As others have said, this game is the very epitome of 'average' and is entirely forgettable - devoid of any creativity or excitement.
I can appreciate it is the result of efforts made by a relatively small team, but nonetheless I would not recommend you spend your money on this... especially when the Switch is so ripe right now with great games!
If anyone is looking for a BOTW-clone, I'd highly recommend 'Immortals Fenyx Rising'. Don't be put off by this being a Ubisoft property, it genuinely is quite a refreshing experience that borrows heavily from BOTW - in all the best ways.
For more traditional 'top-down' Zelda style games...:
Other great games recently released inc. Xenoblade 3, Return to Monkey Island, Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak expansion.... please don't make my mistake and waste your money on Oceanhorn 2!
@SwitchVogel Hahah ok, fair enough.
Why through Limited Run? The delivery is normally the same price as the actual game, and then you have to wait for a year before its actually sent.
@Serpenterror That defeats the purpose of "limited run games" if they turn around and re-print them.
@Bunkerneath
LRG previously did the physical run of the first Oceanhorn game, and they've helped FDG Entertainment with the physical runs of Blossom Tale and Monster Boy too.
So, it only follows logically, it's like how LRG help publish a ton of Wayforward games.
@Serpenterror They are also doing a dual pack:

Plays like Zelda and looks like a cheap Sora knock-off
I didn't like the first one and only played due to the limited number of games for Switch at that time. Now I read here that the first part is superior to the second one... Good, no need to spend any money on this physical release, then!
But does it still... You know.... Suck?
