Storage space has always been one of the Switch's downsides, with the system's internal memory never really being enough to house the many games, patches and more we find ourselves downloading these days. The issue makes a microSD card an essential purchase for any Switch owner and thankfully, there are plenty of great options available on the market already.
While you might want to opt for microSD cards that offer the best value for money, there are some fancier, officially-licensed designs available, and that range has now grown thanks to these new Fortnite cards. Both 128GB and 256GB sizes are available, with the latter naturally costing a little more, and they can be found at retailers like Amazon and Best Buy – stock is already proving a little sketchy, so we've also included links for you to buy them directly from manufacturer Western Digital below:

If you haven't seen Switch's other officially licensed cards before, here are your options. We're pretty keen on the yellow Super Mario Starman design ourselves:

Cute, but I'm gonna stick with my 1TB microSD card that I got while it was on sale.
Aaaah. Those lovely overpriced cards that you’ll never see
Cute as the designs are on the cards, why pay a premium for something that will never be seen?
Half a terabyte. Nice
I will NOT buy any products with fortnite on it.
I'm really against with that franchise.
The normal Sandisk micro SD card is more than enough for me.
Alternate take: SD cards to buy when money outweighs sense.
got the 400gb real cheap on sale a while ago, never needed another one, still have 36Gbs left. **yeah too many games on this thing**
Too expensive for just the brand alone.
Oh wow. Something everyone wanted...
@BlueCoolYoshi Cute, but I'm gonna stick with my 1TB microSD card that I got while it was on sale.
Same here got 1tb for under 100usd Amazon Prime day limited. And will get another when or if I can find Pokemon OLED Switch as well.
I'm still waiting for 2TB micro sd cards to become a thing. My 1TB cards have around 190gb left, and my collection is 95% physical. I was sure that 1TB cards would be enough to last me the entire Switch generation, but it doesn't seem like it anymore...
@DTfeartheBEARD You're tellin me. I got a 1TB card on both my Steam Deck and primary Switch, and I got both of those pretty much filled up all the time. A 2TB would be perfect for both of them.
There is no price premium on the Nintendo-themed cards. It's basically the same price as any other reliable MicroSD card of the same class and speed rating.
Who would waste money on something that doesn't matter that you'll rarely ever look at?
It's almost like a gift buying season is upon us and they are trying to fleece people out of more money than they need to spend.
These are really cute. I can't wait to upgrade to the 256.
Aww yeah. Nothin' says you're an awesome person, like paying a 30% price mark-up to get a super-cool design on your SD card that you'll never be able to see.
I love sponsored amazon ad postings, lol
The "official" SD card will go nicely with my designer suppository. Gotta pay extra for that brand name nobody will ever see.
A bit of extra cash to just tell your cards apart. that's the only reason I see to buy these. unless you are a collector.
"fancier, officially-licensed"
Why would you want to pay more for a design change when any Samsung or SanDisk micro SD will do just fine? These are just overpriced smdh
I wonder how many people are collecting these 🤔🙂
I do like the Ninty ones but my pockets aren’t deep enough 😥
Nah, I have plenty of space on my 512gb SD card by Samsung.
Laughs in 1 TB micro SD card that's not Nintendo branded
@Enigk I thought that was what modern Pokemon was for?!
Nintendo's SD cards are absurdly overpriced.
@BlueCoolYoshi This ⬆️ - hoping a 2TB card gets affordable kinda soon though...
Waiting on 2TBs please.
Fortnite branding? And I already have a 1TB?

Twice the normal microSD card price for something that sits inside my Switch and I might only see twice: 1) when I put it in, and 2) when I upgrade to a larger card?
No thank you.
Love.all this excitement about the new branded cards! That apex one is looking extra sharp too.
Wow these are pointless
No one’s gonna see it unless u have some friend who immediately opens up ur SD card slot to have a look and complain about u not getting the Mariokart blue shell variant but a generic off brand one
Come on 2TB! I'd even settle for 1.5TB at this point!
