Update #2 [Tue 20th Sep, 2022 14:30 BST]: Treasure fans, shmup fans, rejoice — Radiant Silvergun is now available to purchase from the eShop once again!
It appears that the game was re-uploaded to the store earlier today. The web store hasn't updated yet, but we've double-checked the eShop on the Switch itself and we can confirm the page is there, along with that rather tantalising 'Proceed to Purchase' button.

Update #1 [Mon 19th Sep, 2022 09:20 BST]: Publisher Live Wire has shared an update on the disappearance of Radiant Silvergun from the North American eShop.
The company states that the game was removed from digital shop fronts because "the product's rating has changed" which is similar to what happened with Mushihimesama last year. Live Wire has submitted the new data to the product board and is waiting for a response, but is hoping that sales will resume on 20th September (PT), though it has acknowledged that the exact dates and times haven't been determined.
Here's what Live Wire has to say about the situation on Twitter:
We'll update this article as soon as the game is live again on North American eShop storefronts. For more information, check out our story below from last week:
Original article [Wed 14th Sep, 2022 09:30 BST]: One of our favourite surprises during yesterday's Nintendo Direct was confirmation that not only is Treasure's Radiant Silvergun returning, but we can buy it right now. How many of you dashed over to the eShop and downloaded it immediately? In North America, however, you needed to be extra quick, as the game has already been removed from the eShop.
A few hours after the Direct aired, players were expressing concerns on Twitter when they couldn't find the game on the eShop. The trailer has also been made private or removed from YouTube.
The port's publisher — Live Wire — has made a very brief statement on Twitter, acknowledging the issue, but it's a mystery as to why it's been removed.
"Currently, the Radiant Silvergun is not available for purchase in North America. We will respond immediately. We will let you know when it becomes available for purchase."
This isn't the first time one of Live Wire's games has been suddenly removed from the eShop. Mushihimesama was removed shortly after it was released last year on the European eShop due to an age rating error, but it reappeared the following month:
With Radiant Silvergun, some players are reporting that the port has a few issues, including the music not looping correctly, however no official reason has been given for the game's removal. Fortunately, the game is still available to buy on the Japanese and European eShops.
We'll update this article as soon as we know more!

'We will respond immediately.'
But....but you haven't?
Switch tax in full effect here…£15!
@MrBelmont In the Xbox it has been available for ages for 14.34 euros, a semi bizarre price but cheaper. The strange think is that the publisher is ... Microsoft Studios!
Still available on t1ts
I have it though not played yet....
I live in the New York area /North America I downloaded it right after the direct I am a big SHUMP gamer, been playing it with no problems but will be looking out for the issues you mentioned. When it does go back online definitely worth the purchase. I don’t know if you will see this Alex from Nintendo Life but I have to say your review for Splatoon 3 was SPOT ON, I love the game but like you said they really stretched out the playing fields…love all your reviews
@AlanaHagues @Hemibear I've noticed tons of new eShop games get yoinked off the eShop within hours of release. Last month Celestian Tales released with all of its expansions in North America and then swiftly vanished without a trace. The few YouTubers who reviewed it gave it shining praise so oof for those of you who wanted it, but didn't get it myself included...
Very odd to see them bring up that it was delisted, but then not saying why it happened. Guess Treasure must of had a problem with the stealth launch?
@TowaHerschel7 It's happened with a Live Wire game before too! Mushihimesama was removed from the EU eShop last year and then relisted - which i'm just adding to the story.
(Also, love the username )
@belmont it’s £10 on the Xbox store, pretty sure that’s how much it was when it came out in 2011. I’d have double dipped if it was the same price on Switch. Definitely one to add to the wishlist
@MrBelmont Which, given it was $20 (~£17.30) per the NA listing whenever it reappears, isn’t too bad.
I’ll still wait for its issues to get ironed out though.
Anyone know if the game is out on Xbox or PlayStation? 🤔
snapped hit up in Europe.. feels better than the 360 version until now
So so happy this has finally arrived. This IS the greatest shoot-em-up of all-time. Downloaded it immediately that it was listed, played for five hours straight. Still as mesmerising as it was all those years ago.
So the hype and availability from the Nintendo Direct was a lie. It wouldn't be a lie if it was still available.
It’s $5 cheaper on Xbox…wait for a sale?
hope it's back up by payday!
The old Xbox 360 port was rated T, while this Nintendo Switch one was rated E, it's likely a rating error again.
As for any bugs or sound issues, I wouldn't be worried, Livewire were extremely fast to iron out issues on the CAVE ports and they're perfect now.
A shame, I had never played the original and heard a lot of good things about it. If it's anything like Ikaruga but with rpg mechanics, then I'm sure it'll be amazing once it's back up on the eshop
Literally the only thing I was interested in from the direct!
Was this ever available? I went searching for it after I watched the direct and all I came across was a xbox360 version.
Tried to buy it this morning and yeah it wasn't there
OOPS
While I'm all about owning games digitally these days, I'm quite glad I still have my copy of this for the Saturn!
@shineget64 If you really want to play the game just create another region account on your Switch and buy it either at the Europe or Australian eShop. It's available everywhere but the NA one.
@Heroofthenexus It's the fault if LiveWire, seem there was a bug with the NA eShop or perhaps they had a conflict with the ESRB or something. Either way the only way to play this in TATE mode now is through another region's account.
I moaned about the price a few days ago…and then went a bought it earlier today 😂 What a game…absolutely love it, back to learning all the chains.
True (and boring!!) story. Back in about 2000 I bought a white Japanese saturn and radiant silvergun for about £70, played it a few times and couldn’t get into it so sold it a few weeks later for the same price…dang
Got this game in 2005 for 100 pounds really enjoyed it, but not my thing now. Was no good at it. It is now bubble wrapped in my loft and hopefully will be a nice find for someone one day when I’m gone x
It's amazing how the age rating gets screwed up for Live Wire games since this isn't the first time.
@Serpenterror But isn't tate mode weird in this case? It's screen is 16:9, not traditonally vertical..
@romanista TATE mode will work on the aspect just fine as long as the aspect ratio of the original vertical screen could be maintain meaning able to be display and play vertically without relying on borders or frames around it.
@Serpenterror RS is a 4:3 game, it doesn’t have a TATE mode because of that. Ikaruga was a vertical game, but I think Treasure made RS 4:3 because it was an STV cartridge game and had to be compatible with existing STV arcade cabinets.
little confused how a game which was surely rated upon its release 25 or so years ago can miss its rerelease launch so badly by not being properly rated. not to mention, surely this is an E "everyone" game, right? i remember nothing controversial about this game when i played it in its day.
is there some law that says you cant release a game with the old RP "rating pending" badge on it? remember that? isnt this the kind of thing that was made for? bueller?
Awkward NA launch, but whatever. Just glad this game's not stuck on consoles I don't have anymore.
I never liked that term, shmup. I don't know what it is, man, it makes me cringe every time I encounter it.
Just fix the sound issues please
@TheBigK me either, it's horrible. It's like people that say 'congrats'
@TheBigK Yeah, I never liked it either. I still use 'shoot 'em up', in conversation.
Ahh, Mr Silvergun. Looking radiant.
Good news for the US
